Eddie Murphy's Golden Globes Joke About The Will Smith Oscars Slap Divides Fans

The comedian referenced the infamous slap while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes on Tuesday.

Someone was bound to bring it up, right?

It's been nearly 10 months since the infamous Oscars slap of 2022 when Will Smith walked on stage and slapped host Chris Rock across the face for making a joke about wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head.

The buzz surrounding the controversy eventually fizzled into near nothingness. But alas, award season is upon us once again and the memory of the incident was resurrected.

During the 80th Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday night, Eddie Murphy brought up the incident during his speech while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

While revealing the "definitive blueprint" to "achieve success, prosperity, longevity, and peace of mind," Murphy said:

"It's very simple, just do these three things: pay your taxes, mind your business and keep Will Smith's wife's name out of your f**king mouth!"

As expected, Twitter had a field day with Murphy's bit.

Many thought Eddie Murphy stuck the landing.

Others, however, would rather the Will Smith jokes not roll into the new year.

Murphy was asked about the joke after he left the stage.

He assured it was all in good fun.

When asked if he'd talked to either Will Smith or Chris Rock, Murphy replied:

"No, I haven't. But I love both of them."

AOC Has Mic Drop Response To MAGA Republicans Who Try To Mock 'Democratic Priorities'

New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez issued a powerful rebuke against President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement, pointing out why mocking things like affordable housing and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as "Democrat priorities" ultimately hurts Republicans.

Ocasio-Cortez, speaking during a CNN town hall alongside Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders, accused Republicans of refusing to work to end the government shutdown, stressing that the country’s health care system could collapse if Republicans refuse to meet Democrats’ demands in negotiations.

GOP Rep. Blames Coordinated 'Ruse' After Swastika Image Is Seen Displayed In His Office

Ohio Republican Representative Dave Taylor demanded an investigation after a swastika image was found on display in his Washington, D.C., office, and blamed it on a "targeted" "ruse."

Politico obtained a photo from a virtual meeting showing a distorted image of the American flag—its red and white lines altered into the shape of a swastika— pinned to what appears to be a cubicle wall behind Angelo Elia, a staffer for Taylor. Beside it hung a pocket Constitution and a congressional calendar. Elia’s involvement in the incident, if any, remains unclear.
