Absolutely Bonkers List Of 'Top U.S. Cities For Pizza' Has Food-Lovers Crying Foul

A TV screenshot showing the 'top U.S. cities for pizza' has foodies up in arms after cities like New York and Chicago didn't even make the top 10.

Americans are having a meltdown after a list called "The Top 10 U.S. Cities for Pizza in 2024" didn't place New York or Chicago at the top of the list.

Pizza connoisseurs begged to differ when the controversial report placed Denver, Colorado, at the number-one spot.

The list was compiled by Clever Real Estate's data team, which ranked 50 U.S. metropolitan areas based on several factors, including pizza reputation, rate of pizza restaurants per 100,000 residents, average Yelp rating for pizza restaurants, and the respective average price for cheese and pepperoni pizza.

According to the results, Denver snagged the top spot as America's best city for pizza.

The Mile High City rose above the competition due to the affordability of Denver pizza for residents "based on the typical income."

"Buying a cheese pizza each week for a year in Denver requires 1.03% of the median annual income—30% less than the income required in the average city we reviewed (1.47%)," the report indicated.

Pizza places in Denver also earned positive Yelp reviews, with an average of 4.05 stars out of 5 on Yelp, "one of the highest averages in country."

Chicago and New York City didn't even crack the top 10. The Windy City ranked 14 followed by NYC at 15.

Discerning foodies shared strong opinions when a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a screenshot of the top 10 results seen on TV.

New Yorkers weren't having it.

Despite its 15th ranking, the report claimed New York City had the "best reputation for pizza."

Roughly 41% of Americans considered NYC a "top five pizza city" over Chicago by a six-point margin, as most Americans preferred New York's thin-crust pies over Chicago's deep-dish style.

Sadly, those statistics won't improve the results.

At least according to Clever Real Estate, Denver is the pizza capital of America, no matter how you slice it.
