Redd was hospitalized after he was punched in the face outside The Comedy Cellar in New York City.

Comedian and former SNL casg member Chris Redd spoke out for the first time about the injuries he sustained after an assault outside a comedy club last week.

Redd was punched in the face by an as yet unidentified assailant last Wednesday night outside The Comedy Cellar in New York City while on his way into the club to perform a set at the Greenwich Village venue.

Redd posted an Instagram Story over the weekend assuring fans that he's "ok" and on the mend.

In his Story, Redd wrote:

"I've been resting up like crazy but I want to say thank you for all the messages of love, the jokes, and the concern! I'm OK and healing fast!!"

He also announced that he'll soon be able to make up for all performances he missed as a result of the attack.

"For any shows I missed, I'll be putting back on the schedule so if you bought tickets SIT TIGHTS AND I GOT YOU!! I'll be back up talking some good sh*t very soon!!!!"

Redd was rumored to have also been robbed during the assault, with a gold chain he wears having been snatched, but in his Story he clarified that this is untrue. He wrote:

"Also…..NOBODY SNATCHED MY CHAIN BRO!!!! Y'all will just write anything!!"

On social media, many were shocked to hear about the assault, and many couldn't help but jokingly tie it to Redd's romance with SNL star Kenan Thompson's estranged wife.

According to TMZ, the attack on Redd came out of nowhere as a man dressed in a security uniform approached Redd and punched him, injuring him badly enough there was blood spattered across the pavement from a deep gash on Redd's nose.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, treated and released. While there is security footage of the incident, no arrests have been made so far as the assailant was wearing a mask at the time.

Redd's new HBO special Why Am I Like This? comes out Thursday.
