Chef Totally Roasts Customer Who Left A Bad Yelp Review

Chef Totally Roasts Customer Who Left A Bad Yelp Review
PosterPresto/Imgur

The customer is always right.

Except when they aren't.

One star reviews are sometimes totally justified:

abysmally rude service, unclean facilities or similarly catastrophic experiences definitely warrant a bad review.

A simple mistake by the chef, which resulted in an apology and a comped meal?

Not so much.

The review from 2015, which had any identifying information removed to protect the guilty, was uploaded to Imgur by user PosterPresto almost 4 years later.

The one star Yelp review, which you can see below, said:

"Serves a goat cheese omelette (on the menu) with mozzarella cheese!!!"
"The excuse...sometimes he gets confused!!!"
"Are you kidding me? With those prices you don't have that luxury!!!"
"Pick another place to go in G[redacted]. You'll never know what will be put in your food!!"

These negative reviews can greatly affect a business' overall rating.

So it's no wonder the chef who made the mistake took the time to address the one-star Yelp review in exacting detail.

"So we do not often respond to negative reviews unless it is to apologize for a miscue in service or cuisine. So, as the chef, and one not hiding behind internet anonymity I will apologize for your receiving the incorrect cheese in your omelette."
"As the chef, I also feel a responsibility to let you know that the cheese was not mozzarella, it would never be mozzarella unless it was made in house as that is a cheese much like a burrata that can be easily made within a restaurant."
"It belongs to the pasta filata family of cheeses, it is not a cultured cheese. The cheese you had was gruyere, and in its own right gruyere is a great cheese, a French bistro classic that does not even minutely resemble the texture of a true mozzarella nor does its flavor profile come close to the milky cleanness of a mozz as it is semi hard and cultured possessing a foot that a mozzarella does not possess."
"I recall you coming into the restaurant, I recall stating that you were correct and that the cheese in the omelette was supposed to be goats cheese and I recall offering to fix the problem"
"I also recall that we comped your omelette even though you consumed the entire thing. I would never try and pass a cheese off as one instead of the other. We change our menu frequently, the days leading up to your lunch we had placed a gruyere omelette on the menu, it was a reflexive and honest mistake that could have been easily fixed but you chose not to allow us to do so."
"Instead you wait several weeks to write a review that states information that is incorrect and inflammatory to a restaurant like ours that goest through [sic] great lengths to be the best we can."
"If we failed in our endeavor with you I can accept that responsibility but I will not have our integrity attacked by a palate that cannot discern between mozzarella and gruyere...unless that was a mistake...which is a luxury that those writing a serious critique of a serious restaurant do not have."

Users on Imgur wasted no time in roasting the original reviewer and their lack of taste.

"Reviews sound like a great idea until you remember most people are idiots." -RepresentingTheRepublicOfEzo
"Gruyere is some expensive shit, that's a fuckin' upgrade and a half" -MyNameIsMrTorgue
"Shit if someone gave me gruyere instead of literally any other cheese I would kiss them square on the mouth. WITH tongue." -AngryHumanoid
"I love people who complain about the food they got but they eat the whole thing before demanding their money back." -sarabearr
"This was absurdly delicious, but I am outraged that it is slightly different from my expectations! I demand my money back, and another plate" -beechundmoan
"My Mom, who cooked for a living, favorite saying about this: 'After two bites, it's yours'" -Orbit3338
"Idk what this customer's issue is. He asked for cheese and got a full roast, no charge." -BisonDNA

Some people just feel the need to complain about something, even after the problem has been resolved.

Thankfully, there are always people willing to call them out for being ridiculous, to the great amusement of those who get to witness it.

Trump Bizarrely Clashes With Reporter Over Photoshopped 'Tattoo' On Abrego Garcia's Knuckles

President Donald Trump sparked criticism after claiming during an interview with ABC News’ Terry Moran that an edited photo depicting tattoos of wrongly-deported Maryland father Kilmar Abrego Garcia showed that he has an alleged connection to the MS-13 gang.

Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who arrived in the U.S. in 2012, was labeled a threat in 2019 due to an alleged connection to MS-13. He spent months in detention before an immigration judge found he had a credible fear of persecution—not from MS-13, but from a rival group, Barrio 18, which he said had been extorting his family.

Leavitt Lashes Out At Amazon Over 'Hostile' Plan To Display Added Tariff Costs For Products On Website

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt lashed out at Amazon over news that the commerce giant planned to display increased "import charges" on items on their Amazon Haul website, essentially showing to customers the extra money they'd have to shell out as a result of President Donald Trump's tariffs.

Trump has escalated a growing trade war by imposing tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese imports, prompting China to retaliate with its own 125% tariffs on American goods. Additionally, the U.S. has slapped a 10% tax on imports from most other countries, while temporarily suspending higher rates for several nations for 90 days.
