During the global pandemic, unemployment has ballooned in the United States.
Not only do those people need unemployment benefits, which Congress addressed in the relief package created in the Democratically controlled House of Representatives, but many also lost their health insurance with their jobs.
However Congress already addressed that when the Affordable Care Act was passed. The law provides a provision for the executive branch to reopen enrollment during periods of extraordinary need.
But the White House under the direction of President Donald Trump decided to deny the newly uninsured in the United States that opportunity.
A White House spokesperson said the Trump administration is exploring other options.
While the decision surprised few, they still expressed their displeasure on social media.
And many are calling for people to remember this decision in November.
As of Wednesday, April 1, the 2020 election is 215 days away. In addition to the President, all members of the House of Representatives and 35 members of the Senate up for reelection.
