Finn Wolfhard Just Weighed In On Millie Bobby Brown Calling Him A 'Lousy' Kisser—And He's Surprisingly 'Fine With It'

The 'Stranger Things' star admitted to Drew Barrymore that he basically 'headbutted' Brown during their on-screen kiss.

Actor Finn Wolfhard agreed with his Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown saying that he was a "lousy" kisser on the show.

Wolfhard, who played Mike Wheeler on the popular 80s throwback Netflix thriller, told Drew Barrymore as a guest on her show that he was "fine with" Brown's unflattering comments about their onscreen smooch.

Back in November, Brown was grilled about her career and personal life when she willingly took part in Vanity Fair's lie detector test series.

After answering questions like whether she knows how to speak Spanish or admitting that she thought Sherlock Holmes made for a better detective than Stranger Things' Jim Hopper, the Enola Holmes actress responded to questions about her onscreen boyfriend.

When the Vanity Fair interviewer inquired about Brown once saying that "kissing sucks" after she made out with Wolfhard for the first time on their show, Brown reiterated he was just a "lousy kisser."

The polygraph examiner, who claimed he was a former detective for the District Attorney's office, verified Brown's statement.

"She's telling the truth," he confirmed, adding:

"He's a lousy kisser."

Brown responded by lowering her head in shame.

Here is the session, with the section about Wolfhard beginning at the 5:35 mark.

When she was asked if Wolfhard got any better with locking lips onscreen, Brown replied:

"Not with me, no."

And when the interviewer informed her that Wolfhard–who at the time didn't know about Brown's brutally honest assessment–was "gonna find out," Brown said:

"That's okay."

It appeared Finn was cool with it based on a clip from an upcoming episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.

"You know what? I was fine with it," said Wolfhard after agreeing with Barrymore, who commented that he and Brown were like "brother and sister, " have "grown up together" and pretty much "raised each other in certain ways."

The 20-year-old actor continued:

"My first onscreen kiss was with Millie, but I didn’t know how to approach that in any way, it was just like, 'You’re gonna do this thing and at the end of the take, you’re gonna kiss her.'"
"So I almost kinda headbutted her."

He added:

"I was 12, so I'll excuse [myself]. I probably would have done the same thing if I was not on screen in front of the entire world."

Fans appreciated his gallantry to Brown's previous remarks.

Barrymore weighed in on the awkwardness of Hollywood kisses.

She told the audience that:

"It's not intimate the way that you think it is. It's very mechanical."

Wolfhard jokingly criticized his onscreen kissing ability in a 2019 interview on extraTV.

He recalled how the Duffer Brothers–who created and executive produced Strangers Things–reacted to observing Wolfhard's evident lack of kissing experience.

"It looked like I was eating her. The Duffers saw that, and they were like, ‘Perfect! He doesn’t know how to kiss. That’s great!'"

Strangers Things was released on Netflix on July 15, 2016.

Due to its enormous popularity right out the gate, the series was greenlit for a second, third, and fourth season–with a fifth and final season announced in February 2022.
