Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy accused Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi of "playing politics" this week over her refusal to accept two of his nominees for the U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol.

One of those she refused, Ohio's GOP Representative Jim Jordan, claimed Democrats were responsible for the Capitol riot.

Despite being the one accusing Speaker Pelosi of "playing politics," McCarthy was the one who pulled all five of his picks for the committee after Pelosi refused two of them who themselves will likely be part of any investigation into the people who incited the riot.

While speaking with PBS Newshour's Lisa Desjardins, Pelosi said about McCarthy's remarks:

"Perhaps you mistake me for somebody who would care about that."

Pelosi's curt dismissal of McCarthy's whinging about not including potential co-conspirators in a House investigative committee pleased many Twitter users.

In a statement on her decision not to allow Jordan and Indiana's GOP Representative Jim Banks to be part of the committee, Pelosi said:

"With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee."
"The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision."

Republican Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming spoke out in favor of Speaker Pelosi's decision.

"I agree with what the speaker has done. At every opportunity, the minority leader has attempted to prevent the American people from understanding what happened, to block this investigation."
"I am absolutely dedicated and committed to making sure this investigation holds those accountable who did this and ensures that it never happens again."
