Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez invoked one of Americans' favorite shows to dunk on the GOP.
It started when the Ocasio-Cortez tweeted in support of increasing taxation on the rich, clarifying that the level of rich she was describing meant those earning millions of dollars a year, or—as she described it—"nesting doll yacht rich." She clarified that, due to the country's wealth inequality, this was only "like ten people."
Though many with comprehensive reading skills could understand that the congresswoman meant that very few people owned disproportionate sums of wealth, many in the Republican party took the chance to "correct" her.
AOC soon called this out as well, comparing the GOP to Dwight Schrute from NBC's The Office.
Dwight infamously takes nearly everything literally, possesses no sense of humor, and responds to slight infractions with exaggerated force.
In case you need a refresher:
People thought the comparison between the GOP and Dwight was perfect.
But not everyone was sold.
Michael Scott has yet to respond.
