President Donald Trump unveiled his budget proposal on Monday, and there were very few surprises.

The budget predictably slashes funds for environmental protection, education, health care, food stamps, and housing while increasing funds for defense and for his border wall.

One of the budge's cuts, however, is standing out.

The very day his budget was released, Trump told the nation's governors that he wouldn't cut medicare or social security—a promise he'd been repeating for weeks before.

His current budget slashes medicaid, medicare, and social security by a total of $800 billion.

Always eager to hold the President accountable, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) pointed out the broken promise.

Pelosi wasn't the only one to notice the discrepancy.

A number of prominent Democratic lawmakers have spoken out against the cuts.

The Trump administration defended the cuts, insisting that they were due to decreased healthcare costs and wouldn't affect the benefits brought by Medicare and social security.

People sided with Pelosi about the President's backtracking.

The Democratic House of Representatives is unlikely to let the budget pass without a fight.

Trump Dragged After Making Ridiculous Claim About Randomly Finding Billions On The 'Tariff Shelf'

President Donald Trump was criticized after he claimed to reporters this week that officials in his administration suddenly found $30 billion they "never knew existed"—located on what Trump referred to as the "tariff shelf."

Tariffs are a tax on imported goods, usually calculated as a percentage of the purchase price. While tariffs can shield domestic manufacturers by making foreign products more expensive, they are also used as a tool to penalize countries engaged in unfair trade practices, such as government subsidies or dumping goods below market value.
