Jen Psaki Uses Fox’s Own Reporting to Clap Back at Question from Fox Reporter

Jen Psaki Uses Fox’s Own Reporting to Clap Back at Question from Fox Reporter

Fox News White House correspondent Steve Doocy has once again proven he's no match for White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

Doocy asked about the appointment of Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta, citing her previous support for diverting funds from police departments to other investments in public safety.

Because police departments are funded at the municipal level, the Attorney General's office only has the power to withhold grants to police departments across the country. At a Senate confirmation hearing, however, Gupta insisted she wasn't in favor of defunding the police.

During a Friday press briefing, Doocy read off Gupta's earlier quotes calling for "state and local leaders to heed calls from Black Lives Matter and Movement for Black Lives activists to decrease police budgets."

Watch below.

Psaki responded by quoting an article from Doocy's own network, Fox, which said:

"Current and former police chiefs in more than 53 cities across the country, as well as the National Fraternal Order of Police, are issuing their support of the nomination of Vanita Gupta — President Biden's nominee for Associate Attorney General — praising her leadership and record and urging the Senate Judiciary Committee to 'quickly confirm her' to the post."

When Doocy countered that Gupta said at the hearing that she'd be in favor of decreasing police budgets, Psaki responded:

"She also made explicitly clear in her confirmation process that she opposes defunding the police, and the President, most importantly, did not run on defunding the police. He's always opposed defunding the police."

The exchange made waves across social media.

Many identified with NBC News White House correspondent Peter Alexander's look.

We look forward to seeing what Doocy asks next.

While a person's wedding day is meant to be a celebration of their love and starting a new life with their partner, it's also important to remember the life they're leaving "behind," specifically the household that raised them.

In a video that's gone viral multiple times before, a Chinese father presents his daughter, who is about to be married, with a bowl of dumplings. He then selects one dumpling and feeds it to her, as a reminder of how he raised her and symbolizing that this is the last time he'll take care of her before she becomes a married woman.
