Meyers responded:
“In general, I try to live by the New Yorker’s creed: When someone is ranting and raving about you, ignore them. Chances are, they’re just going to move on and rave about something else."
"But there’s one thing I simply have to address. You can say I’m untalented. You can say I’m deranged. But I’m not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!”
Meyers then rolled a montage of clips showing Trump discussing the catapults—a topic he’s been fixated on for more than six years. In one 2019 clip, Trump, then in his first term, managed to say the word “catapult” eight times in a single speech.
He added:
“Until you said something, I didn’t even know aircraft carriers had catapults! I’m not the talk-about-catapult guy. Just ask my friends."
"Oh, uh, friends are… how would I describe this to you? They’re like people who enjoy spending time with you independent of financial and legal favors you can grant them.”
Then he got very serious, criticizing Trump for focusing on his petty feuds instead of working to resolve the ongoing government shutdown, now the longest in U.S. history:
“I say this with sincerity: I don’t want to talk about catapults. I don’t want to talk about bathrooms. And I’m realizing that I’m starting to sound like a deranged lunatic, but that’s what you do to us. You make us talk about what you’re talking about and then we all sound crazy.”
“What we should be talking about instead is the government shutdown you’re not solving, or the food assistance you refuse to fund. Working families are struggling while you renovate your bathroom and you build your ballroom.”
Meyers concluded with “And that’s why your approval ratings are in the…” before cutting to a clip of Trump shouting “toilet!”

TikToker @rootednjoyy was put in check on Halloween night this year when a young girl appeared at her door in a witch's costume and hat, a large and puffy winter coat, and a black cauldron doubling as a trick-or-treat basket.
The TikToker asked her to wait for a moment while she grabbed a small bowl she had in her home, filled with Tootsie Rolls, and with the backup plan of "fruit chews."
She grabbed a whole handful of the Tootsie Rolls and put them in the bucket, and the girl's face portrayed shock and astonishment.
Before stepping away, the girl asked:

Boebert is unrepentant, and a spokesperson said those who are outraged should spend their time calling for an end to the ongoing government shutdown that Republicans have refused to negotiate on:
“It’s a Halloween costume. Tell our Senators to vote for the CR and open the government. They are choosing to let millions of American families suffer.”
Boebert is facing heated criticism, with many calling out the cruel and racist nature of her costume.
This isn't the first time Boebert has faced criticism for her decisions over the holidays.
Several years ago, she responded to a photo posted by her Kentucky Republican colleague Thomas Massie, who angered many when he tweeted a family photo in which he and six family members each brandished a military-style weapon in front of a Christmas tree, with a picture of her four equally armed children.
"The Boeberts have your six," Boebert tweeted to Massie, using a military saying that means, "I've got your back" even though neither politician has military experience.
Both tweets came just days after a mass shooting occurred at Oxford High School in Oxford Township, Michigan. At the time, James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of the perpetrator, were arrested following an intense manhunt and charged with four counts each of involuntary manslaughter.
The Crumbleys had purchased the handgun used in the shooting as a Christmas gift for their son on Black Friday and stored it improperly. Boebert was accused of making light of the shooting.
