On Saturday, the Senate voted 57 to 43 to convict former President Donald Trump of the one article of impeachment against him; incitement of insurrection. While the vote fell short of the two thirds necessary for conviction, seven Republican senators did vote with the Democrats to convict.
This made it the most bipartisan vote to convict an elected official in an impeachment trial in American history. Former President Trump is also the only U.S. President to have been impeached by the House of Representatives twice.
However this damning indictment of former President Trump's conduct didn't stop his son, Eric, from trying to turn it into a victory lap.
Many pointed out the basic facts Eric missed.
Others wondered how Trump would do if faced with an actual court of law.
And many just thought it was a strange flex.
While impeachment ended up failing to hold the former President accountable, it remains to be seen if our justice system does.
