It's hard to try to fix every wrong in life.

And it's hard to show enough love to every issue out there equally.

Life throws us so much at once, a lot can get lost in the shuffle.

There are medical issues we need to know more about.

There are problems beyond cancer and heart disease.

Redditor bunntelligent wanted to spread the awareness about health issues we need to know more about.

They asked:

"[Serious] What disease or disorder do you think everyone should be more aware about?"

Blood pressure issues. That is a HUGE problem. And it's so simple to acquire but also fix. The more you know.

the bone fusion

"Ankylosing spondylitis. An inflammatory autoimmune condition that, besides the bone fusion it’s named for, can cause a whole range of debilitating pains and problems with various joints and organs. I'm constantly at war with my body. I solve one symptom and two more pop up in its place. Been knocked on my ass by a flareup for almost a month right now!"

ShinyHunterHaku

the worst and common

"Celiac, I don't have it but many people think that those that are gluten free are just faking it. People with the disease literally can't even have cross contamination without becoming extremity ill. Not only do they feel awful, their body responds to gluten by attacking the small intestine."

Good Luck

"Crohns and Colitis."

gar67444

"I can completely relate. I am currently flaring from Ulcerative Colitis. Most of the time I look healthy so it’s hard for people to grasp how sick I am. I feel like I always have to explain why I’m so tired. I used to never use reddit but it’s really helped me feel less alone with this disease and see how other people understand it’s a living hell. Good luck to you on your health journey!"

More than cancer...

"Diabetes! It now kills more people than cancer does."

"Reddit

"I actually wish they’d stop teaching it as short units in college/uni unless it’s delivered by a diabetes educator. I’m so tired of being condescendingly lectured by doctors who sat through a 2 hour lecture once, given by someone who doesn’t actually know much about diabetes."

"If another person who should know better says ‘are you poorly controlled? Why do you have hypos if you’re taking your insulin properly?’ or ‘insulin pumps are for non-compliant patients’ or some other completely stupid thing, I’m going to lose my mind."

Spectrum

"People need to realize autism is a spectrum and there's lots of people on the end where they'll need care for the rest of their lives. The way entertainment portrays autism it's almost like a superpower."

PunchBeard

"And that there's lots of people who appear normal in day to day life with it, but who mentally struggle a lot, working really hard to appear normal."

Legitimate-Chart-289

Are you taking notes? I am. We need to be more aware.

BPD

"Borderline Personality Disorder."

its-the-fluorescents

"God f**k BPD, it makes me feel like there’s a monster living inside me that's so angry but just wants to be loved, but also like I’m numb/between two glass walls, one separating me and the world and the other separating me and my emotions which are banging on the glass screaming bloody murder for me to just feel them."

Head Issues

"Migraines. They are not just bad headaches. There are other parts to it like sensitivity to light, sound, and smell. There can be nausea and visual disturbances called auras. IBS can be triggered by common things like cheese, wine and chocolate."

Katiedidnt1989

"I had to scroll way too far for migraine. I've missed so many events due to debilitating pain. I've busted blood vessels in my eyes from vomiting. I've vomited up stomach lining. I've had to take trips to the ER. All because of a 'headache.'"

Behaviors...

"OCD. Stop telling me you have OCD because you like to keep your desk tidy. It's a fucking serious disorder and it ruins people's lives."

kahnehan

"Yes! This! My husband has diagnosed OCD and it's not an anecdote, or a funny comment to explain your quirky personality 🙄 A lot of people with OCD don't have any 'OCD behaviors,' they are just trapped in the hell of their own minds. It can be truly awful."

kwhite655

Focus

"ADD/ADHD. It's a lot more than just 'not being able to focus.'"

RunningUpEscalators

"Getting diagnosed later as an adult and not as a kid really shed light on a lot of the mental health issues I grew to develop and suffer from."

"I got diagnosed at 28. So while I now have an answer as to why I felt and went through those things, it's incredibly hard to shift and change perspectives to and essentially reprogram my mind to work through my mental health issues. Still haven't been able to make headway on getting ahold of my mental health."

chenzo512

Fatal

"Rabies. Not even joking, getting treated for it sucks. It's fatal if left untreated. Don't f**k with the wildlife."

Happyelephant19

"The process of dying is super horrible and painful and the death rate is nearly 100%. I’ve heard there are only 6 cases cured using a special therapy but 5 of them died because of complication later (not sure if it’s true)."

JudyCh_X

There is so much death and disease out there. It's a miracle anyone makes it past 30.

Anti-Vaxxer Surgeon Gets Epic History Lesson After Pointing Out That We Got Rid Of Bubonic Plague Without Vaccines

Developed by Dr. Jonas Salk, the polio vaccine led to a massive decrease in cases in the United States, to the point where the iron lung was phased out for polio victims in the late 1950s and 1960s.

It remains one of the clearest public health successes of the modern era, something Northwestern University physician Dr. Neil Stone highlighted on December 21 in a post underscoring the importance of vaccines and continued vaccine research.
