As adults, the bane of many of our existences is the chores we have to face after work and on the weekends.

Among the worst undoubtedly has to be the neverending pile of laundry and dishes.

Most of us hope to live with a helpful partner, an overzealous cleaner, or at the very minimum, a decent washer, dryer and dishwasher.

Imagine thinking that you didn't have one of those appliances... for two years. Then discovering you were wrong.

Journalist Tom Hale realized he had been washing all of his dishes by hand for no reason earlier this week when he realized one of his cabinets wasn't a fake display cabinet at all but a mildly hidden dishwasher.

Hale tweeted about the hilarious discovery:

"I am in shock. [I lived] in this flat for 2 years and only just discovered TODAY it has a dishwasher."
"I thought it was a fake cupboard."
"I've wasted days of my life washing up."

It's unclear what led Hale to believe the cabinet was simply a front display, especially since the cabinets surrounding it were both functional.

Whatever the case may be, Hale will inevitably have extra time to put elsewhere from now on.

People had a variety of reactions to Hale's discovery, ranging from the purely surprised to the skeptical.

Some were happy for Hale and shared their own fun discoveries they and friends made around their homes.

Others were far more skeptical about what took Hale so long to discover the dishwasher.

And where there are skeptics on the internet, there's a fair guarantee there are going to be trolls.

Though having a dishwasher doesn't remove the strain of keeping up with the dishes entirely, it will most certainly save minutes and hours for Hale over time.

And even if he was trolling the internet with a fake discovery, at least he got to see others' fun discoveries.
