Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is once again embroiled in a social media spat, this time involving Daily Show host Trevor Noah regarding the first batch of numbers released from the 2020 United States Census.

It all started when The Daily Show's official Twitter account posted a segment of Noah's, breaking down Census-imposed developments, including New York's loss of a Congressional seat by only 89 people.

Watch below.

Noah said:

"Aside from New York getting screwed, the big news out of the census is that America's population grew at the slowest rate since the 1930s. Basically, immigration is down and the birth rate is falling, primarily due to this photo."

Noah then displayed a photo of Cruz.

It wasn't long before Cruz responded in a quote tweet of the video.

Cruz attributed the shrinking population of New York to the "fleeing" of "high-tax blue states" in favor of states like Texas, which he represents in the Senate.

Speaking of fleeing states, Cruz fled Texas earlier this year in the immediate aftermath of a winter storm that decimated its independent power grid, leaving millions of Texans without power and electricity.

Cruz, family in tow, flew to sunny Cancún, Mexico in order to ride out the storm. He ended up returning early after widespread outcry, and soon posted photos of himself putting a case of bottled water in a car trunk to show that he was helping his constituents.

The Daily Show reminded him of this in its response.

Calling Cruz "Senator Cancun," the account advised against Cruz using the words "fleeing" and "Texas" in the same sentence.

Social media proceeded to assist The Daily Show in roasting the Senator.

But The Daily Show wasn't the only one who responded to Cruz's tweet.

Cruz's response was somewhat limp.

And the hits kept coming, with The Daily Show referencing the time during the 2016 Republican primaries when then-candidate Donald Trump insulted Cruz's wife's looks. Cruz went on to vocally support Trump throughout his time in the White House.

Hopefully Cruz's job as a United States Senator will keep him too preoccupied to engage further.

People Break Down The 'Silent Red Flags' Folks Tend To Ignore In Relationships

A red flag has come to mean any warning sign in life, in addition to the literal red flags that are placed on beaches or industrial sites to warn people of danger.

People will respond to situations by saying, "That’s a red flag." But before that language evolved, they'd just call them "warning signs."
