24 Things Most Fans Don't Know About Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

This article is based on "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - IMDB". If you're interested in reading more, check out the link at the bottom of the article.

The joke Jack Sparrow's uncle tells Jack is the same joke Al Pacino told Johnny Depp during production of Donnie Brasco: "A skeleton walks into a bar, orders a mop and a beer... "

The severed heads in the guillotine basket are the likeness of the movie's directors Joachim Rnning and Espen Sandberg.

This is the shortest Pirates of the Caribbean movie so far, clocking in at two hours and nine minutes long. The longest is At World's End at two hours and forty-nine minutes long.

Jack Sparrow's father, Captain Teague, is played by Keith Richards, a Rolling Stone. In this movie Jack's uncle, aptly named Uncle Jack, is played by Paul McCartney, a Beatle.

Pirates of the Caribbean is now the ninth highest grossing film franchise off all time, grossing $4,384,062,005 worldwide as of June 23, 2017. It beats out Spider-Man, Transformers, and Jurassic Park.

Captain Salazar is named after former Portuguese Prime Minister and dictator Antonio de Oliveira Salazar who ruled from 1932 to 1963.

For the first time in the franchise, composer Hans Zimmer stepped away from the series so he could compose Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk. Instead, one of his protgs, Geoff Zanelli, who worked on all previous four instalments in the franchise, is the main composer for the film.

In one of the flashback scenes, one of of Captain Salazar's crew recognizes a ship owned by Bonnet. Stede Bonnet was a real Barbadian pirate who worked closely with Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, before being hanged for piracy in 1718.

In one of the flashback scenes, Jack is on a ship called the Wicked Wench. This is actually the Black Pearl, renamed to be the Wicked Wench when Davy Jones brings it back from the deeps. This happens in the book Pirates of the Caribbean: The Price of Freedom, making the book canon.

The two pirates who interrupt Captain Barbossa while he is having breakfast are actually the two redcoats from The Curse of the Black Pearl who are guarding the dock when Jack Sparrow first arrives. Since that moment they deserted the British Navy and converted to piracy after Cutler Beckett's downfall.

In several countries the film is released as Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge, in both English and other languages such as Greek and Serbian.

The tagline "all pirates must die" is a play on the familiar line "all men must die" from the Game of Thrones television series. The line is spoken by various religious and political groups to invoke the idea that no one is invincible.

During filming, Johnny Depp was in the middle of a divorce with his wife Amber Heard. As a result he was chronically late to the set, causing production to halt for several hours at a time. Eventually a production assistant was hired to wait outside his house and announce that he was awake when the lights inside came on.

As is common with most major franchises these days, the film had to alter the name of the production and filming locations to prevent fans from interfering. Secret filming locations for this film used the production name "Herschel".

This is the first movie in the franchise where Tortuga is neither mentioned nor visited.

Initially, this movie claimed to be the last one in the series. However after it was released a sixth instalment was announced, reinforced by a post-credit scene featuring Will and Elizabeth.

Instead of rebuilding the Black Pearl, production decided to only build the deck and the rest of the ship was completed using CGI to save money.

According to the Queensland Arts Minister, filming of Dead Men Tell No Tales is the largest production to ever shoot exclusively in Australia, at a budget of $350 million.

Christoph Waltz was originally cast as Captain Brand but dropped out due to other filming commitments. Javier Bardem replaced him, but the character's name was changed from Brand to Salazar since Bardem is Spanish. Both of these actors previously played villains in the James Bond film series: Bardem in Skyfall and Waltz in Spectre.

Since Will Turner is the captain of the Flying Dutchman he can only step on land once every ten years. Dead Men Tell No Tales is released exactly ten years after At World's End, the last movie to feature Orlando Bloom as Will.

Paul McCartney as Uncle Jack is seen singing the song "Maggie Mae", an old drinking song featured on The Beatles album "Let It Be". On the album it was sung by John Lennon.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, the film racked up a bill larger than its initial budget of 250 million after production stopped when Johnny Depp injured his hand onset in Queensland's Gold Coast.

Brenton Thwaites, who plays Henry Turner, is only 12 years younger than Orlando Bloom, who plays his father, and 4 years younger than Keira Knightley, who plays his mother.

Dead Men Tell No Tales is the only film the Pirates franchise whose title comes from an existing quote. The phrase can be heard in the Disneyland and Walt Disney World attractions for At World's End.

'Hunger Games'-Style Immigrant Reality Show Pitched To Homeland Security Sparks Outrage

According to a report in The Daily Mail, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reportedly reviewing a pitch for a reality television show where immigrants would compete for a chance to fast-track their path to U.S. citizenship.

DHS is reportedly collaborating with writer and producer Rob Worsoff on a proposed reality television show titled The American, which risks turning a serious and often traumatic process into entertainment. The concept comes as the Trump administration continues to clamp down on asylum access and prepares to implement a sweeping deportation plan targeting millions of undocumented immigrants.

GOP Rep. Has To Be Woken Up During Roll Call After Pulling An All-Nighter—And Oops

Utah Republican Representative Blake Moore had social media aghast after video showed he had to be woken up by one of his GOP colleagues to vote during a House Ways and Means Committee meeting early Wednesday morning after pulling an all-nighter.

The House Ways and Means Committee worked through the night Tuesday as Republicans pushed forward key elements of President Donald Trump’s plan to extend tax cuts in ongoing budget negotiations. The marathon session extended into the early hours of Wednesday, and just before 5 a.m. ET, cameras caught Moore asleep in his chair as his turn to vote arrived.
