People Explain Which Things Should Be Illegal But They Strangely Are Not

You'd be surprised which things are still legal in certain parts of the world. Did you know that child marriage is still very much a thing in multiple countries? Oh, and believe it or not, it happens a lot in the United States, too. (Not that you're shocked by anything coming out of the United States these days...)

That might be more on the extreme end, but you'd be surprised to discover what other things are still technically on the books or are still regarded as "acceptable" even though society's tastes and norms continue to evolve.

After Redditor cabin_neighbor asked the online community, "What should be illegal but strangely isn't?" people weighed in.

"There are a lot of laws..."

It's not illegal to film up a woman's skirt in some places of the US. There are a lot of laws that haven't caught up to current technology. Like, things that should clearly be illegal but the law hasn't had time to be written and passed yet, or it "hasn't come up."

"I don't mind tips..."

Paying employees a wage underlegal limits because the employees get "tips" so the companies can justify not paying their employee. I don't mind tips and think they should be considered a bonus. I f****** hate relying on and occasionally asking cusomers for extra money I should be getting paid already.

"To me, it's just baffling..."

Stealthing is still not illegal anywhere in the United States. To me, it's just baffling that there aren't specific laws against it.

Basically, if a woman consents to protected sex using a condom, the guy could take it off and finish before she knows he's doing it, with no legal repercussions.

"People just see them..."

Abuse of non mammalian or avian animals on social media platforms, the amount of clear animal abuse against fish reptiles and amphibians on social media is insane. People just see them as "different" even though some reptiles are theorized to be more intelligent than some birds and mammals with data backing it up.

"If I have to buy a seat..."

Deconstructed airline pricing. If I have to buy a seat after buying a ticket, what have they sold me? It's false advertising used to manipulate fare databases.

"The excessively high cost..."

The excessively high cost of a college education in America. It's insane!

"If somebody thinks..."

Radio ads with emergency sirens and car horns in them, because they pose a danger on the road. If somebody thinks they're being honked at, they might slam on the brakes or hit the gas when it's unsafe to do so.

They should also ban radio ads with alarm clocks, crying babies, and song-based solicitations for car donations, for the sake of everyone's sanity.

"Gerrymandering..."

Gerrymandering and many other political practices designed to inhibit people's rights.

Fleshy1537

"They control the fiscal policy..."

Private banks effectively controlling the U.S. Federal Reserve. They control the fiscal policy of the entire country and are printing free money for themselves, all of which fall on the tax payers. When they still manage to go bankrupt, don't worry they just get a huge bailout package, so they can pay themselves giant bonuses. It is absurd.

Dem Rep. Offers Brutally Accurate Reason For Why He Can't Understand 'The Mind Of Donald Trump'

Massachusetts Democratic Representative Seth Moulton made a fitting observation about President Donald Trump's mind after Trump gave a 20-minute address to the nation about his war in Iran on Wednesday evening.

Trump claimed “core strategic objectives are nearing completion” in the Iran war and vowed to strike Iran "extremely hard" over the next two to three weeks. He said that he would finish the job "very fast," without setting any timeline for ending the war. He pledged to "bring them [Iranians] back to the Stone Ages, where they belong.”

Solicitor General Sparks Alarm After Telling Supreme Court He's 'Not Sure' If Native Americans Are Birthright Citizens

The relationship between Indigenous American nations and the colonizers and later settlers who arrived and established the United States is complicated.

Indigenous peoples were integral parts of the survival and success of early colonizers. The Haudenosaunee Confederacy's Great Law of Peace offered a blueprint for the United States Constitution and the structure of the federal government including the three independent branches offering checks and balances, ideally.

Racist Guy Caught On Video Tearing Through Iraqi Soccer Fans' Banner At Dallas Airport: 'Don't Come To America'

With the United States set to host the 2026 World Cup, a video out of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is drawing attention for a very different reason: showing a man ripping apart an Iraqi soccer fan’s banner and telling them, “Don’t come to America.”

The video, posted on Instagram, shows a group of Iraqi sports fans standing in an airport holding a banner with Arabic and Spanish writing. The fans were there to support Iraq during their World Cup qualifier against Bolivia, which resulted in a 2-1 upset victory earlier that day.

Videos Of Squirrels Trying To 'Vape' Are Going Viral—And We Don't Know Whether To Laugh Or Cry

Some viral videos come along that leave us unsure whether we should laugh or cry. In the case of squirrels trying to vape, crying is unfortunately the more likely outcome.

E-cigarettes have dramatically increased in popularity in recent years and are often even portrayed as a cool accessory on social media. Unfortunately, disposable, one-time-use e-cigarettes have been made affordable and easily accessible, and instead of properly disposing of them, people often leave them on the ground like cigarette butts.
