Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon and Jussi-Pekka “JP” Kajaala are married!
The gold medalist announced the happy news in an Instagram post on Wednesday, nearly a month after their small—and very private—wedding ceremony.
The two met on Tinder in 2018 and became engaged in 2020.
Rippon shared a photo of himself, Kajaala and their dog Tony from their special day with the caption:
"SURPRISE 🥂 WE ARE MARRIED🥲❤️ One afternoon JP and I looked at each other and said the very classic *romantic* phrase of 'let’s just go do it now'. So we did. It was just the three of us and it was perfect 12/31/21 🌟🐶"
Rippon said in an August 2021 interview with People he and his now husband wanted to be wed in a simple city hall wedding.
They were waiting for Kajaala's, a Finnish national, visa to move to the U.S. to be approved.
Rippon had told People:
"If everything goes well we'll probably get married in like a few months."
Friends and fans were thrilled to hear everything went well for the couple.
Fashion stylist Brad Goreski and Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness were among many celebrities congratulating the couple.
Fellow Olympic figure skaters Maé-Bérénice Méité and Paige Lawrence also reached out to their peer.
Fans only had nice things to say about the two being wed.
Rippon's mom even hopped into the comment section to express her happiness for the duo.
Congratulations to the recent newly weds!
May they have many happy years to come.
