The actor told 'Good Morning America' that 'tastes have changed' when it comes to comedy, despite the series' staying power.

Mindy Kaling is being slammed by some after her Good Morning America interview in which she claimed the United States version ofThe Office probably wouldn't make the cut for today's TV.

Kaling—who was an actor, writer, director and producer on the show—shared:

"That show is so inappropriate now."
"The writers who I'm still in touch with now, we always talk about how so much of that show we probably couldn't make now."

She explained "tastes have changed," and "what offends people has changed so much now."

As for the show's continued popularity, she said:

"I think that actually is one of the reasons the show is popular—because people feel like there's something kind of fearless about it or taboo that it talks about on the show."

Some agreed—sarcastically—with Kaling's statements regarding the show.

Of course, there were also several who disagreed, one even going as far as to accuse Kaling of "lying."

And while some agreed the characters on the show were offensive in many ways, they claimed that was kind of the point—to exploit ignorance.

As for the future of her Office character Kelly, Kaling shared:

"I think she would have quit Dunder Mifflin to become an influencer."
"And then probably be canceled almost immediately."
