Original stars Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle and Alison Arngrim reunited on 'Good Morning America' to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary—and remembered late actor Michael Landon.

Fifty years after making their television debut in 1974, the Little House on the Prairie stars are back together.

Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls, Karen Grassle (Laura's mother Caroline a.k.a. "Ma") and Alison Arngrim (Laura's nemesis, Nellie Oleson) reunited on Good Morning America to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary and to remember the late Michael Landon.

Though the series ended in 1983 after nine seasons, generations have continued to watch the show, and Grassle shared that she believes its lasting legacy all boils down to a longing for comfort and values.

"People are finding values, comfort and a message that they long for."
"And I think, you know, it's just simple human decency."

Chiming in on the show's continued popularity, Arngrim added that it's "absolutely mind-blowing."

And Gilbert agreed.

"It's overwhelming, actually."
"I'm remembering so much, and so much of my childhood and so many wonderful experiences and emotional experiences attached to all of these people."

The women also spoke about the late Michael Landon, who not only starred as the Ingalls father Charles, better known as "Pa," but also produced the series and wrote several episodes. Landon died in 1991 at the age of 54.

Arngrim acknowledged Landon's role as the ultimate "girl dad."

"Technically he was the TV girl dad."

Of the "magnetic" Landon, Gilbert said:

"[He] drew me in but he also played with me right away."
"Our relationship immediately became parental, but he treated us when he worked with us like contemporaries, not like kids."

When asked what "Ma" provided to viewers, Grassle responded:

"[I] can only think it's love."
