After 16 years of being together and five years being a married couple, Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa and A Different World star Lisa Bonet announced they were going their separate ways.

Needless to say, fans were shook over the split and had some eye-opening thoughts to share.

Before we get to those comments, Momoa explained in an Instagram post:

“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times.”

He continued:

“We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
"The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other ~to be who we are learning to become…"

The two started dating in 2005. Although it was previously believed they married on November 15, 2007, Momoa and Bonet actually exchanged vows in October 2017.

The separated couple share two children–a daughter, Lola, who was born in July 2007; and their son, Nakoa-Wolf, who was born in December 2008.

"Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our Children," wrote Momoa.

He ended the post with:
"Teaching our Children What’s possible ~ Living the Prayer May Love Prevail ."

The reason for their separation is unclear, but fans had plenty to say about it.

Romantic fans who were hoping true love existed felt dejected.

What they couldn't express through words, they used memes to help process their feelings.

Others were impressed by Momoa's musing over his matrimonial expiration.

While others needed a translation.

With one devastating news headline from Hollywood after another, Momoa and Bonet's breakup announcement isn't helping 2022 from looking very optimistic.
