Pet Industry Worker Sparks Debate After Explaining The Five Dog Breeds She Would Never Own

Pet Industry Worker Sparks Debate After Explaining The Five Dog Breeds She Would Never Own

If we really think about it, we've more than likely known at least one "crazy dog person" in our life—that person who defends the dog breed preferred by their family at all costs. If we're being honest, that person may have even been us.

A woman on TikTok who goes by Chelsea or "Miss Chili Cheese" brought many of the more passionate dog people out of the woodwork last month when she began calling out the dog breeds she would never, ever own. Her series of videos went viral with impassioned, and at times inflammatory, comments.

Chelsea captioned the video with a disclaimer:

"DISCLAIMER: I love these breeds, but I don't want to own one of my own."
"Don't come for me, doodle moms."
"IT'S JUST MY OPINION! (And a joke, as I have a chihuahua, lol [laughing out loud].)"

The video opened with a text overlay that reads:

"Dog breeds I would never own after working in the pet industry."

The first dog breed was the popular Siberian Husky, which Chelsea captioned:

"Completely unhinged and always screaming."

The five presented breeds brought some agreeable comments and many defensive ones.

DISCLAIMER: I love these breeds but I don’t want to own one of my own. Don’t come for me doodle moms 🤪🤓 IT’S JUST MY OPINION!!!! (And a joke, I have a chihuahua lol)

Chelsea followed up the video with another featuring five more breeds.

Miss Chili Cheese captioned this video with a reminder about selecting the right dog breed:

"These are my opinion and would not be fit for my home or lifestyle."
"Do your research to see what dog breed is best for you!"
"(Also, not all dogs are the same, so I'm sure your breed is an angel to you, lol.)"

The comments section on both videos was divided.

Some viewers were understanding and agreed with Chelsea's brief evaluations of these dog breeds.

Finally, Chelsea wrapped up the conversation with a video featuring the 5 dog breeds she would definitely own:

@chilicheesechelsea

THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS. I never recommend a dog breed to a someone bc it may not be the best fit for them or their family. Do your research to figure out what breed is best for you!

Some viewers still weren't happy, though, and questioned why Chelsea didn't feature their favorite dogs.

If Chelsea's videos have taught us anything, it's to do our research before choosing a dog breed to bring into our home.

But our research should also include the understanding an individual dog may not be fully representative of a dog breed, so the collective's perspective of the breed might not mirror an individual's experiences.
