Actor and comedian Ali Wong opened up to Access Hollywood about her relationship with Barry and Saturday Night Live star Bill Hader, explaining why they've largely kept their romance private.

Wong said that they've been together for a while, saying, "we’ve been together for a minute" but acknowledged that some fans have only recently found out about her romance with Hader due to their appearances together at awards shows.

She said:

"We’re very selectively private. We’ve been together for a minute, I guess people didn’t know we were together."

Wong, who has two daughters, noted that her relationship with Hader has been successful because he shares three daughters with his ex-wife, Maggie Carey, and as Wong puts it,:

“We’re both in our 40s and parents."

Many expressed their support for the happy couple—and some continued to express surprise.

Wong clinched the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Television Movie for her role in the Netflix series Beef, while her co-star, actor Steven Yeun, won in the corresponding Outstanding Lead Actor category.

Wong and Hader previously dated though their rekindled romance became public knowledge in April, with Peopleconfirming that they had gotten back together.

The news came shortly after Wong's announcement of her split from husband Justin Hakuta in April 2022, with the official divorce filing taking place in December.

Despite the end of her marriage, Wong maintains an amicable relationship with Hakuta. At the Golden Globes earlier this month, she took a moment to express gratitude towards him for all of his "love and support."

Wong, who previously wrote for Fresh Off the Boat, shot to stardom following the success of her first Netflix comedy special Baby Cobra. Two more specials—Hard Knock Wife and Don Wong—have followed. She also starred in, wrote, and produced the hit romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe.
