People Describe The Absolute Worst First Dates They've Ever Been On

"A redditor asked: 'What the worst date you have ever been on?'"

First dates are always an issue.

You want to put your best version of yourself out there.

But that isn't always easy.

Even when you're doing your best, you can't guarantee that your company will do the same.

This can lead to disastrous results.

First dates can then become bad on a legendary level.

Although this makes for a good story, living through them isn't fun.

The road to love is littered with horrific first dates.

But you have to try and start somewhere.

Let's share and compare notes.

Redditor pornetta2-0 wanted to hear about the first dates from HELL, so they asked:

"What is the worst date you have ever been on?"

Hey Bro

"It was a blind date in high school set up by my friend's boyfriend. My friend said I would love this guy - tall, dark, handsome, a football player but smart. And he was all of those things . . . and he was also my half-brother."

Swipe Out

"Met a girl from Tinder at a local pub. She arrived like 30 minutes late. It happens. No big deal. So we're sitting at the bar, chatting. She has her phone out the entire time. At one point, it becomes glaringly obvious that she is actively swiping Tinder while ON THE DATE. That conversation made it all of one drink, and then I paid and left. She still didn't seem to understand what was wrong."

- onamonapizza

Sounds fun, right?

"I once went on a date where my date insisted we try an escape room. Sounds fun, right? Well, halfway through, she decided to unleash a dramatic monologue about her ex, while I was trying to decipher a puzzle. By the time we 'escaped,' I’d learned more about her past relationships than I ever wanted to know. At least I got out… but I’m still trapped in the mental maze of that date."

- Distinct-Ad8610

Let's Chat

"We went out to eat, and after dinner, she invited one of her friends to hang out. Then another friend. Then it was me just driving around three women who chatted with each other and ignored me. We ended up at a bar, and when I had had enough I settled up my tab and waved to my 'date' from across the bar. She waved back and I left. Never saw her again."

No Pics Please

"So I went on this date with a guy who only talked about his ex the whole time. like, bruh, we’re not even 5 mins in and he’s showing me pics of them. I just sat there, awkwardly sipping my drink, wishing for a time machine to escape. Ended up faking a phone call to leave. worst. date. ever."

Trisha Paytas

"Tinder date, about 8 years ago. He kept talking affectionately about Trisha Paytas the entire time. She didn't even come up organically in the conversation. I could not tell if it was in earnest or sarcastic. I would attempt to change the topic, but he'd somehow find a way to bring it back."

3 out of 5

"He kept calling me a name which sounds like my name but isn't actually my name - despite repeated corrections. Basically sh*t on everything I said I liked, banged on about how gorgeous Zoe Deschanel is, conveniently forgot his wallet, and then as we parted ways announced 'I'd give this date three out of five' and leaned in to kiss me. Pass."

BLOCKED

"Met him at a bar, he asked for my number and said he’d like to catch up again. The next day, he texted me all day and insisted on catching up that night after work- I had plans to go out for dinner with my mum and SIL (my brother's wife) and he insisted on coming along. He said barely two words to me the whole night and only had eyes for my gorgeous SIL."

"Made her very uncomfortable and she kept trying to get him to talk to me, which he didn’t. When we were leaving he turned back to me and told me to call him later that night - I tried his phone when I got home and I was blocked. Lol."

- Candid_Parfait

She's Gone

"I say worst, but definitely funniest because of it: Long story, but ended up in the bedroom of my date's boyfriend while they argued in Spanish (I didn't know she had a boyfriend, and I only speak English and a slither of French). She eventually said something and stormed out, leaving me standing in the corner. All I could do was comment on the film he'd been in the middle of watching before saying goodbye and leaving, too."

"Caught her up in the corridor where she was horrified that he hadn't followed her. Checked she was going to be okay getting home. Told me she would go back in and stay at his. I shook my head in confusion and bought a bag of chips. And walked home giggling to myself about the whole encounter."

Wasted

"We met at 6 pm at a bar restaurant. By 8 pm, she had had 6-7 margaritas and was wasted. She was very dismissive of whatever topic of discussion I brought up and kept asking me if I had my own place, car, etc. Golddigging questions. She got visibly upset when I asked the server to split the bill. As soon as we exited the place, I kid you not, she ran to a random group of guys asking them to buy her drinks. I just kept walking and deleted her from Tinder."

- Elddif_Dog

Oh Heck No!

"Not me but my husband. He met a guy online and went to a restaurant. The first thing the guy brought up was how much he admired Ted Bundy. The husband excused himself to the washroom and left via the kitchen's back entrance. We laugh about it to this day."

Anger Issues

"This guy traveled 3 hours after his work to come and pick me up and started getting pissed at me that I made him come see me so late in the night even though I told him if he was tired not to come. I'd never even met him in person before. He comes angry and in a bad mood because he wants to sleep then starts getting aggressive with me. Eventually, he punches the inside of his car door so I leave his car and walk back home."

"He starts blowing up my phone, so I walk back to his car, and he REFUSES to drive away. He said he would knock on my family's home door and disturb them after I told him to drive away from my street. I had to call the police on him. Weeks later he rang me on no caller ID after I blocked his number demanding I pay his petrol money. It's put me off meeting random guys online and in their cars permanently."

The Crash

"Back in the mid 70's. Drove a 65 Ford Falcon, crashed it (minor), and could not open the driver's door. I picked up the girl who was a very good friend in high school, and we just really got along well. I was embarrassed as I had to enter the passenger seat while she climbed in behind me. All while Mom and Dad are standing on the porch watching us. The whole date it was like I was out with a friend who is one I can joke around with all the time. We both agreed the date was a dumb idea, and we just remained great friends."

About Time

"Went out with a guy who seemed nice but got increasingly ornery as our food was a bit delayed. We went from having a fairly normal conversation to him complaining, making passive-aggressive comments every time a staff member walked by, and making an exaggerated show of checking his watch."

"They then brought out my food and we waited another 5 minutes for him to get his food, which felt like an eternity because it only riled him up more. When the waitress brought his dish to the table, he exclaimed: 'About f**king time!' I wanted to die of embarrassment. There was no second date."

I Oblige

"I met a girl through a dating app back when they were still new. We were both still in college, and she asked if she could bring her dad. I figure hey, this is new for her and she wants to feel secure, so I oblige. We meet at a mall and I end up talking with her dad more than her and eating ice cream alone. He was a chill dude but I never saw her again."

All of this love nonsense is just messy.

How do any of these people think this kind of behavior is acceptable?

It's sad. Is it culture and society?

Did we degrade as humans?

We'll never really know.

Lord, so many of these people need therapy.

Or, at the very least, they should be kept away from other humans.

Love is a game for fulls to play.

And I fold.

We're all human here, so we all make mistakes. Most mistakes can be resolved with a genuine apology, hot glue to fix a broken vase, and a good cleaning solution for a big spill.

Other mistakes, like bullying someone or breaking someone's heart, are much more guilt-inducing and harder for everyone to get over.
