‘Sea of Thieves’: Best Memes of Rare's Pirate MMO

Thanks to sites like 9gag, video games and memes tend to go hand-in-hand. When Sea of Thieves first went into beta in January 2018, its mixed reception was a good sign that it would become the next video game meme phenomenon. After its launch, the creative minds of the internet did not disappoint.

Developed by Rare, the team behind Kameo, Viva Pinata, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, GoldenEye 007, and Banjo Kazooie, Sea of Thieves puts players in the shoes of a novice pirate. With nothing more than the tools, cutlass, and pistol they woke up with, the amateur scallywags must embark on quests to uncover gold and cut down skeleton hordes to become the next feared pirate. The online multiplayer experience lets gamers team up or turn on one another with real-time ship battles.

Whether you love patrolling the high seas, completing bounties and avoiding the Kraken or have had a miserable experience with Rare’s pirate adventure, you should find appreciation in this selection of the best Sea of Thieves memes.

It's almost as funny as all of the players that think they have to sing sea shanties at full volume. It's not necessary. Please stop.

100% okay. Couldn't be better. Why do you ask?

When you watch someone sail their ship right into the side of an island and sink it.

Not so sure we want the answer to this one...

Well, the ship is made entirely of wood. So, explosives would probably do quite a bit of damage.
