Passengers Capture Video As Two Carnival Cruise Ships Collide Off Coast Of Mexico, Injuring Six

As fun and relaxed as they may seem, apparently even problems can happen on a cruise ship.

This past week Friday, two cruise ships collided at the port of Cozumel, Mexico, injuring six passengers.

Early Friday morning, two Carnival Cruise Ships appeared at the port, ready to dock.

Carnival Legend was already pulled alongside, parallel to the dock. Carnival Glory, on the other hand, prepared to parallel with the dock, as well, and angled the ship into position.

While completing the turn, Carnival Glory collided with Carnival Legend. The nose of the cruise ship appeared to remain intact as the back end of Carnival Glory scraped along it, though its fellow cruise ship sustained damage, including the majority of the interior dining hall area.

Here is one of the videos available of the collision:

At the moment of the collision, there was only one confirmed injured passenger.

Since the incident, however, five additional passengers have come forward to seek medical attention.

The Cruise line confirmed:

"[Six guests] have presented themselves to the Carnival Glory medical center for evaluation."

All injured passengers were aboard Carnival Glory, who struck Carnival Legend.

Here's another video, from the perspective of Carnival Legend after it was hit:

In this video, it appears Carnival Glory will continue to drift until it hits another ship, though that cruise ship was left untouched.

Here is one more video, this one from the perspective of Carnival Glory as it scraped along the nose of Carnival Legend:

It's also been confirmed that the collision was fairly minor and left the cruise ships in fair condition for travel.

In an email, a spokesperson for the cruise line wrote:

"Carnival Glory was maneuvering to dock when it made contact with Carnival Legend which was already alongside. We are assessing the damage but there are no issues that impact the seaworthiness of either ship."

The collision, however minor, has drawn a great deal of attention and upset on the Twitter.

And some people, of course, can't help themselves when it comes to cracking jokes:

After the collision, the passengers were initially told to go ashore to enjoy their day in Cozumel. Hopefully their travels have continued happily and they're off to enjoy their holidays.
