A tweet for everything.

The 45th President of the United States tweets rather prolifically. Because of this, there is much to mine online in the Twitter history of Donald Trump, before and after he became president.

And frequently, within his reported over 35,000 tweets, is one that comes back to haunt him.

It happens so frequently that users of Reddit —the American social news aggregation, web content rating and discussion website— started the subReddit "Trump Criticizes Trump: Using Trump's Previous Tweets to Criticize President Trump".

According to their description, "For every Trump action there is a Trump tweet criticizing that action." There are over 900 examples posted so far.

The newest Trump tweet cited is from almost two years ago and concerns Russian hackers and Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails.

But why bring this up now? Then candidate Trump posted the tweet back in July 2016.

Trump's Department of Justice, headed by Trump appointees, Republicans Jeff Sessions and Rod Rosenstein, announced indictments Friday, July 13, against 12 Russian intelligence officials. During the 2016 presidential campaign, the 12 Russian military officers hacked the DNC emails, according to the court filings.

They then, through another party, leaked emails from senior Democratic Party members during the 2016 presidential election campaign. The hacks and leaks threw the DNC into disarray only months before the election.

On June 9, 2016, Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law, met at Trump Tower with at least one admitted Russian government operative. After the election, the Trump administration initially lied about the purpose of the meeting, but eventually revealed, during congressional testimony, the real reason was gathering information damaging to the campaign of Hillary Clinton.

Reddit is not the only place that Trump's 2016 tweet, coming a little over a month after his campaign's meeting with Russian operatives offering them DNC dirt, got notice.

Twitter spread the news as well.

But that Trump tweet —designed to discredit the idea of a Russian led deliberate hack of the DNC emails— is not the only thing being resurrected from July of 2016. Twitter user Steven D. Schroeder reminded Kyle Griffin of a 2016 interview Griffin shared last year.

In it, Trump Jr. appeared in an interview with Jake Tapper, a day before his father's tweet attempted to poke holes in the Russian email hacking story. In the interview, Trump Jr. claimed there was no basis for DNC claims of Russian interference or attempts to help the Trump campaign.

This interview was a little more than a month after Russians contacted Trump Jr. to set up a meeting to, according to Trump Jr.'s sworn congressional testimony, offer him damaging information against Hillary Clinton.

And another person brought up a July 2017 tweet by the President, one year after the denials of Russian hacking and one year before the indictments. In it, Trump posted he discussed developing an "impenetrable Cyber Security unit" to protect elections... with Vladimir Putin.

After today's indictments though, some in the Twittersphere are simply bracing for a reaction on the President's Twitter account.

Gavin Newsom Just Epically Trolled Kristi Noem With A Fake 'Dog Obedience School' Ad

California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom focused his trolling of the administration of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump on Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, creating a fake dog obedience school ad for the self-professed puppy killer.

In her 2024 memoir, No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward, Noem bragged about shooting and killing her 14-month-old Wire-haired Pointer puppy named Cricket after she failed to train it properly and without trying to rehome the dog to a competent trainer or a hunting dog rescue.

Trump Gives Pious Reminder That The Bible Says To Care For 'Vulnerable Children'—And The Hypocrisy Is Off The Charts

President Donald Trump was called out for hypocrisy after he said during the signing of an executive order expanding resources for the foster care system that the Bible instructs society to care for "vulnerable children and orphans"—only for people to point out that he had denied Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to hungry children just days before.

The loss of SNAP is a result of the Trump administration's failure to spend contingency funds to feed people on the program, a decision that is resulting in a nationwide hunger crisis impacting millions of families.

Conservatives Slam Trump After His Attack On GOP Rep's Marriage Is A Low Blow Even For Him

President Donald Trump has been married three times, but his hypocrisy escaped him entirely when he attacked Kentucky Republican Representative Thomas Massie for getting remarried last month following the death of his first wife in 2024—prompting his own party to call him out for going too far.

Last week, Massie announced he'd married his wife, Carolyn Grace Moffa, in late October. His first wife and "high school sweetheart," Rhonda Howard Massie, died in June 2024.

Video Of Pete Hegseth Screwing 'Department Of War' Sign Onto Building Gets Brutally Mocked

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was widely mocked after the Department of Defense—or shall we say the self-proclaimed "Department of War"—debuted its new plaque by publishing a video showing Hegseth tightening the screws on the new plaque with the words "Department of War" at the Defense Department's River Entrance.

The Pentagon’s rapid response account shared the clip on X along with the following caption:

People Explain The Dumbest Reasons They Had To Call 911

We've all made mistakes from time to time, and some of them have probably been pretty cringy and stupid.

But most of us can take comfort in the fact that we didn't do something so stupid that we had to call 9-1-1 to get us out of trouble.
