Marco Rubio Blamed an Unflattering Article on an Intern and Monica Lewinsky Just Responded

Senator Marco Rubio turned heads with an interview with The Economist recently in which he admitted:

“There is still a lot of thinking on the right that if big corporations are happy, they’re going to take the money they’re saving and reinvest it in American workers. In fact they bought back shares, a few gave out bonuses; there’s no evidence whatsoever that the money’s been massively poured back into the American worker.”

Just days later, however, Rubio took to the OpEd page of National Review to clarify his thoughts on the tax cuts:

“On the whole, the tax cut bill helps workers. It’s just not massive tax cuts to multinational corporations that do it.”

“Overall, the Republican tax-cut bill has been good for Americans. That is why I voted for it. But it could have been even better for American workers and their families.”

So it was understandable that Politico would headline its piece on Rubio's back and forth:

Rubio walks back criticism of GOP tax law

People were so here for it:

For the record, the author of the Politico piece, Quint Forgey, is quite literally an editorial intern at Politico, which doesn't diminish the validity of everything written within it, although that appears to be Rubio's implication with his tweet.
