The internet is amused by Mariah Carey’s seeming confusion on what holiday it is—or which Shawn M is which.

The queen of Christmas music texted fellow singer Shawn Mendes to wish him a “Happy Thanksgiving.”

However it was March 17 and Saint Patrick’s day.

Another issue?

Carey didn’t even mean to text Mendes, she was trying to reach out to a cousin named Shawn.

Carey shared a screenshot of the text messages on her Twitter account.

She quickly realized her blunder and apologized to Mendes. She also clarified in the text and in the tweet she was well aware it wasn’t Thanksgiving.

Carey explained in the tweet her text was an inside joke she shares with her cousin. Mendes replied he figured as much.

The two have had fun with each other on social media in the past.

Back in January 2021, Mendes posted on Instagram with the caption:

“Grateful 💙 The sun, coffee, my health, my family, old Mariah Carey songs, music, humans!!!"

Carey acknowledged the call out by imitating his post on Twitter:

People enjoyed this latest silly exchange between the stars.

Fans also loved their apparent friendship.

People also started to request a collab between the musicians.

We love seeing celebrity friendships.

Now, about that song collab...
