Maine Animal Shelter Throws Adorable Wedding For Two Senior Dogs For The Best Reason

Maine Animal Shelter Throws Adorable Wedding For Two Senior Dogs For The Best Reason

The Kennebec Valley Humane Society had a bit of a dilemma: Jack and Diane were two senior mixed breed dogs who had been at the shelter for some time and were inseparable; they needed to be adopted together. The shelter wanted a good way to let potential adopters know this, so the decided to have a doggy wedding for the two.

Jack and Diane were found in a cemetery in Chelsea, ME with their leashes tied together back in August of 2018. Shelter staff figured they were fairly close, and their behavior with each other in the shelter confirmed this.

The two "can be found snuggling together for hours," according to Stevanie Roy, KVHS director of operations, in an interview with HuffPostHuffPost.

Roy said "We have always called them our old married couple," so a wedding ceremony seemed like an excellent way to get the word out about the pair and hopefully find a family to adopt them.

Diane was fitted with an adorable veiled collar in a private room before the ceremony, so as not to let Jack see her before the wedding.

John awaited his bride at the altar, dressed for the occasion with a bowtie collar.

Flower petals were scattered before Diane was walked down the aisle, to the accompaniment of John Mellencamp.

Director Stevanie Roy officiated the service, accepting doggy kisses in lieu of "I Do."

The happy couple posed for photos after the wedding.

Facebook was awash with congratulations for the new couple, and for the great work that KVHS is doing to rescue and support companion animals in the area.

Hillary Clinton Just Threw Some Epic Shade At Trump Over His Push To Print $250 Bills Featuring His Portrait

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton mocked President Donald Trump following a report he approved a proposed design featuring his portrait on a new $250 bill bearing his signature, despite longstanding federal law barring living people from appearing on U.S. currency.

According to four current and former Treasury Department employees who spoke to the Post anonymously out of fear of retaliation, two political appointees at the department—U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach and senior adviser Mike Brown—repeatedly pressed Bureau of Engraving and Printing staff beginning last year to develop prototype designs for the bill.

Florida Cop Gives Woman Ticket For Allegedly Driving With Phone In Her Right Hand—Only For Her To Reveal She's An Amputee

Kathleen Thomas, 36, was pulled over in February by a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy over an alleged distracted driving violation captured on both Thomas’ phone and police body cam footage.
