Author Hazel McBride decided to play into the notion that she's 'average-looking'—and was promptly defended by fans.

A fan fiction author on TikTok hopped aboard a trend in February of last year in a video that continues to garner comments and support from viewers.

The video had the words:

"Audio: when are we gonna see insanely hot men with average looking women?"

In the video, the creator Hazel McBride—@hazelmcbrideauthor—partook in the trend by dressing down and "looking awkward" posing with her "insanely hot" husband.

I wanted to stitch the original video but it wasn't allowed. So just a video of us looking awkward #couplesoftiktok #shrekinthesky #millennialcouple

Though the video was posted nearly a year ago, it continues to rack up the views—now at 11.4 million—as well as support.

While McBride admitted the video was created as part of a trend, it's no secret—based on the comments section of her videos—her followers find her husband very attractive... and McBride low key trolled them.

The real beauty of it, though, is the support McBride garnered from viewers.

Many responded to the semi-satirical video with kind words for the creator.

Just a week ago, McBride posted a video responding to some of the comments which she found "hilarious."

She admitted that in the "off-the-cuff" video, that she was dressed down intentionally out walking her dog with her husband when she joined the then-trend of "unglamorous" women being proud of scoring a more attractive significant other.

She addressed some of the comments and also assured that she is very confident in herself (and also that she is, in fact, "obsessed" with her husband).

Replying to @jintymia It's always the random TikToks that go viral...

Viewers of her latest video shared their thoughts on the update and applauded the author for being secure, real and for also "thirsting" for her man.
