A new fear has been unlocked for those seeking to rent spaces from rental apps.

A bachelorette party that was being held at a vacation rental home in Austin, Texas had to have an "emergency evacuation" after partygoers realized the location was vulnerable to robbery.

TikTok user Callie Bryant–a.k.a. @callie.bryant–posted a video of her group unexpectedly relocating to a hotel in the middle of the night after she and her friends realized the doors to the venue they got through VRBO–a rental service similar to Airbnb–had defunct locks and alarm systems.

Here is the clip that received over 192K likes on TikTok.

The text overlay in the viral video read:

“Bach party in Austin––> emergency evacuating our [apartment] in the middle of the night, cause we realized we were being set up to be robbed and/or worse when the doors didn't lock, alarm system was dead, owner didn't respond."

Bryant also noted the listing for the property had been taken down from the platform after they arrived.

Fellow TikTokers shared their horrific rental experiences and their apprehension about renting from properties other than hotels.
