The actor revealed in an Instagram post how a case of tonsilitis resulted in severe septic shock that 'infected and affected several of my organs.'

Actor Ashley Park is in recovery and counting her blessings after she was hospitalized from a near-death experience during a New Year vacation.

The star of Beef and Emily in Paris said her life-threatening ordeal began with having tonsilitis, an infection of the tonsils, and led to septic shock.

Septic shock is the most dangerous and severe form of sepsis, a condition in which the body improperly fights against infection by turning on itself.

After several trips to the emergency room and a week in intensive care, the 32-year-old reflected on the scary incident on social media.

She wrote on Instagram:

"As I sit here processing and recovering from the first few weeks of 2024, the only word I can think of is grateful."
"While on holiday in December into New Years, what started as tonsillitis spiraled into critical septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs."
"I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we had initially been told."

The Tony-nominated actor, whose Broadway stage credits include The King & I and Mean Girls, expressed appreciation for her beau, Emily in Paris co-star Paul Forman, who was with her throughout the terrifying ordeal.

"Grateful most of all to @peforman for being unconditionally by my side through all this," she wrote and expressed her love and appreciation of Forman, who never left her side.

"You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know."
"I love you Paul. More than I can ever say."

She continued thanking the doctors and ICU nurses who cared for her and she also gave a shout-out to her "personal team of heroes at home" for taking care of business from across the pond while continuing to provide endless love and support.

"I hesitated to share what’s been happening as I’m still in the throes of recovery," she wrote, adding that the worst was behind her.

She closed the post with:

"I'm sorry for being so absent recently to so much and to people in my life."
"I love you all. I’m healing and I promise I’m gonna be okay."

Park's Emily in Paris co-star and bestie Lily Collins responded to the post with:

"I can hardly look at these without crying."
"I love you sister and I’m forever grateful you’re on the other side of this and for @peforman for your incredibly huge heart and for being there every step of the way. I cannot wait to hug you both."

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
