Teacher Asks 7th Graders What 30-Somethings Want For Christmas—And The Answers Are Brutal

TikToker and teacher @7thgradechronicles shared the hilariously shady responses he got after asking his students 'what do you buy someone in their 30s for the holidays?'

We'd like to think that the presents we want to receive from our grown-up Christmas list are not big asks.

But a middle school student may think otherwise.

A 7th-grade teacher's viral post showed his students giving sobering responses to the question:

"What do you buy someone in their 30s for the holidays?"

It's an innocent question, but the teacher, Mr. Frakes from Palm Springs, California–a.k.a. TikToker @7thgradechronicles–was not ready for the humbling gift ideas, some of which included suggestions like, "Panera gift cards. People in their 30s love soup," and "expensive meats."

The video was accompanied by Michael Bublé crooning "Holly Jolly Christmas" and it was captioned simply with:

"It's me. I'm 30s."

Here are some ideas of what 7th graders think people enjoy in their 30s.

Its me. I’m 30s. 😂🫣😬#teachersoftiktok #teacher #teacherlife #teachertok #middleschool #middleschoolteacher #middleschoolteacher #middleschoollife #dyson #panerabread #tjmaxx

Here are some examples the TikToker shared.

Nothing says visitors are welcome like "Signs that say, 'Bless This Home.'"

Kids must think 30 is the new 70.

Those of us 30 and up may not be as agile as we were when we were in our 20s, but still.

One student wrote:

"You get them old people candles that smell like 'home' or 'back then.'"

Because nothing else comes close to smelling like nostalgia.

This wise student speaks from knowledge at home.

This Gen Z-er may be onto something about the previous generation's obsession with Java.

They wrote:

"A coffee mug that says 'Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee.'"

Why this particular mug?

Because "They're all coffee-obsessed millennials."

@7thgradechronicles

Well, there are good deals to be had here.

@7thgradechronicles

The audacity.

@7thgradechronicles

They basically said, "suck it."

@7thgradechronicles

Speaking of suction...

This is a sad reflection on the success rate of marriages but here we are.

@7thgradechronicles

Coffee obsession is one thing.

This is on another level that costs extra.

@7thgradechronicles

These can go hand-in-hand.

Especially with the former following the latter.

@7thgradechronicles

The video racked up 2.5 million views since its December 18 posting.

Many TikTokers were very transparent about their feelings.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams Roasted After Viewers Notice Awkward Detail In His 'Morning Routine' Video

New York City Mayor Eric Adams was widely mocked after he shared a video on social media of his "morning routine," with time stamps showing his activities—only for viewers to notice that a standard black-and-white wall clock visible in part of the video showed a very different time.

Adams jumped on the latest Instagram trend this week, sharing his version of a “morning routine” video with his followers. The trend, which has already begun to fade, typically features sped-up clips of people going through their early rituals—complete with edits, ambient music, and timestamp overlays.
