On the hit show RuPaul's Drag Race, drag icon RuPaul famously said,"As gay people, we get to choose our family."

But the recent Ru-valation of the drag superstar's relative in Congress couldn't be more fitting if RuPaul actually handpicked it.

In a recent episode of PBS's Finding Your Roots, an examination of RuPaul's DNA revealed that he's closely related with Democratic New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, who was on season 1 of the same series.

Watch Ru find out the news below.

Upon finding out the news that he and Booker are DNA cousins, RuPaul said:

"He looks like my kin. There's a sweetness about him that I've always loved and an intellect that's undeniable. But every time I've ever seen him, he reminds me of my cousin Yula."

Booker first discussed the news on The Wendy Williams Show.

The Senator said:

"I told everybody that would listen in my world, so yeah, my mom knows, I just, I love RuPaul, and I haven't had a chance to talk to him since the news was revealed but I was very happy about that news and I hope that he and I can have a family reunion sometime."

Others were just as surprised and uplifted by the news as Booker and Ru.

Some said the pair looked like they could be related.

Season 13 of RuPaul's Drag Race is in the works. Maybe Booker will make an appearance?
