All nerd eyes are on Robert Pattinson as the new Bruce Wayne.

The new The Batman film is scheduled for release in a year and half, and people are wondering how the actor will do in the role.

Pattinson is keenly aware of this scrutiny, as he says in an interview with The Guardian.

This harsh self-criticism is probably why he joked that he'd do porn if the movie flops.

The 33-year-old actor talked about getting the right vibe for Batman. The studio rules and hype that Pattinson hasn't had to deal with since the Twilight movies are coming back to him.

"I'm already remembering what it's like to talk about a movie where there's an expectation. Whenever you say anything, people are like, 'Argh! You idiot!' Like, dude, I haven't even started yet!"

The success of a big film like The Batman riding on your shoulders is a lot. And what will Pattinson do if he can't get Batman right?

"Porn. But art house porn."

Interesting...

In the interview, Pattinson talks about the self-doubt that has surprisingly emboldened his acting career. He claims he is "nervous" on all the films he shoots.

However, that works to his advantage, because he's trying to live up to no one else's expectations but his own.

"There is no harsher critic of myself than myself, so I don't need to worry about anyone else."

It was at this point when he was asked about what he'll do if he fails in The Batman, and he giggled before answering.

I know I'm taking away a lot hope for some people, but he is obviously joking.

When the new Batman movie was announced, with Pattinson as the lead, people were scratching their heads. After the Twilight saga, the actor had moved on to smaller films.

The films were great, and Pattinson got to work with some great directors. Which is why it was surprising for him to be doing another big studio movie.

However, seeing these other performances leaves little doubt that he'll do a fine job as Bruce Wayne.

Pattinson's new movie, The Lighthouse is currently in theaters. He stars alongside Willem Dafoe, as two lighthouse keepers who lose their sanity after being stranded in a storm.

Rehearsals for The Batman are ongoing, and production begins later this year. The film is scheduled for release June 25, 2021.
