Donald Trump Just Made a Questionable Claim About His Visit With the Queen, and Yeah, He Just Made That Up
WINDSOR, ENGLAND - JULY 13: Queen Elizabeth II and President of the United States, Donald Trump inspect an honour guard at Windsor Castle on July 13, 2018 in Windsor, England. Her Majesty welcomed the President and Mrs Trump at the dais in the Quadrangle of the Castle. A Guard of Honour, formed of the Coldstream Guards, gave a Royal Salute and the US National Anthem was played. Nope.

President Donald Trump is still facing fallout from his visit to the United Kingdom.

While speaking to the press, Trump claimed that Queen Elizabeth reviewed her honor guard for the first time in 70 years––all because of him. The president said:

We met with the queen, who is absolutely a terrific person, where she reviewed her Honor Guard for the first time in 70 years, they tell me. We walked in front of the Honor Guard and that was very inspiring to see and be with her. And I think the relationship, I can truly say is a good one. But she was very, very inspiring indeed.

Like many of Trump's statements in the past, this was false. In addition to the Queen only having reigned for 66 years, she has reviewed her guard numerous times, including for President Barack Obama in 2011.

Many on Twitter were quick to notice.

It was far from Trump's only faux pas with Her Majesty.

During the same visit, Trump walked in front of the Queen during their procession, which many saw as a breach of etiquette. In another rather awkward instance, the Queen had to direct Trump on where to walk in their procession.

However, the lie is practically comical compared to the recent statements Trump is answering for in regards to his European trip.

In regards to the North American Treaty Organization, the president repeatedly claimed that the United States funds around 90 percent of NATO when, in reality, the country only supplies around 22 percent.

During his trip to the UK, Trump criticized the British Prime Minister Theresa May and, the day after, insisted he didn't, saying:

I didn't criticize the prime minister. I have a lot of respect for the prime minister. It didn't put in what I said about the prime minister, and I said tremendous things.

But his most damaging missteps came at the highest-stakes event: his press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where Trump went on a diatribe about Hillary Clinton's emails and the Democratic National Committee server in order to discredit his own intelligence agencies and defend Putin.

It was these events and others that have led many to believe Trump's entire Europe trip was a disaster.

As evidenced by his most recent comments about the Queen and her guard, the lies about his Europe trip aren't stopping just because the president is back on U.S. soil. The full impact these lies will have on diplomatic relations is yet to be seen.

Brooke Shields Has Hilarious Reaction After She's Given Awkwardly Short Chair On 'Today' Show

People who have not performed in front of a live audience might assume that adequate rehearsal time and production planning ensure things will go smoothly.

But seasoned performers will tell you that mistakes happen, no matter how well-rehearsed or fine-tuned the project is. When the mistake is obvious enough that the audience becomes aware of it, the best thing to do is laugh it off or incorporate the mistake into the program as much as possible to keep the show going.
