Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida is the subject of ridicule on Twitter after accidentally admitting President Donald Trump obstructed justice.

The obstruction of justice that Gaetz now says the President did was central to the impeachment Gaetz opposed.

Gaetz tweeted the statement, which he apparently intended as a witty defense of the President, on Monday, September 14.

Of course, Twitter didn't miss Gaetz's accident.

Matt Gaetz has developed a sterling reputation online as a master of the "self own."

History will likely show that Gaetz's tweet was correct, though probably not in the way he intended.

The Florida Congressman has a lengthy history of making his own bad choices.

Gaetz is likely regretting his choice of words.

Hopefully the President doesn't hear about one of his most loyal Congressional followers believes he's guilty of obstruction.
