The late royal's younger brother, Earl Charles Spencer, shared a childhood photo of the pair with their mother on Instagram—and some fans noticed a strong resemblance between Diana and her granddaughter, Charlotte.

Earl Charles Spencer, the brother of the late Princess Diana, shared a vintage photo of them as children with their mother on Instagram.

The throwback photo caught the attention of social media users who thought that the pre-Royal pictured as a little girl had a strong resemblance to Princess Charlotte, the 8-year-old daughter of William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales.

In the black and white photo, the young Charles sits on a swing with Diana standing beside him. Their mother, Frances Shand Kydd, holds Charles steady from behind. Their happiness exudes, frozen in time.

Now 59, the maternal uncle of Prince William and Prince Harry was nostalgic on Instagram and reflected on a more innocent time.

He shared the photo and wrote in the accompanying caption:

"My mother, Diana and I, in c. 1967. I would have been 3, and Diana 5 or 6. I love how happy each of us looks."
"At this stage of my life, my mother nicknamed me “Buzz” - because she saw me as having the endless energy of a rather happy - and busy - bee.

Social media users were quick to point out an uncanny resemblance.

Instagrammers continued expressing admiration for the 9th Earl Spencer's photo.

Diana was married to Charles III and was the mother to their children, Princes William and Harry.

She died in a fatal car crash in Paris in 1997.

Born on July 1, 1961, Diana was the fourth of five children.

Diana was survived by her older sisters Lady Jane Fellowes, now 67, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, now 68, in addition to her brother Charles.

They had a fifth sibling, John Spencer, who died just hours after birth, a year before Diana was born.
