Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Senator Josh Hawley Missouri pushed former-President Trump's big lie that he actually won the election.

In fact, even after the Capitol insurrection, the pair still voted to challenge the counting of the electoral college's votes in multiple states.

However, this didn't stop Ted Cruz from criticizing former-President Trump for putting forward the very same 'big lie' Cruz himself supported and amplified.

In an appearance on his podcast, Verdict with Ted Cruz, he stated:

"President Trump's rhetoric, I think, went way too far over the line. I think it was both reckless and irresponsible. Because he said over and over again he won by a landslide; there was massive fraud; it was all stolen everywhere."
"The campaign did not prove that in any court. And to make a determination about an election, it has to be based on the evidence and so simply saying the result you want: that's not responsible and you've never heard me use language like that."

People quickly pointed out Cruz's hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York was busy trying to hold Cruz accountable for his part in the deadly capitol insurrection.

Many agreed with AOC that Cruz should face consequences for egging on the rioters.

Whether or not Cruz faces any consequences remains to be seen.
