Meeting your significant other's best friends can be intimidating. Making a good impression matters.

But one boyfriend had a very specific idea for the type of impression he wanted his girlfriend to make when he was introducing her to his friend group.

The woman, named Lily and known by her TikTok alias @xlily.brown8x, shared a video that seemed to resonate with women around the world.

She captioned her video "here's to being single."

Lily was left reeling after a having a text conversation with her boyfriend that started out as any normal conversation would.

But it quickly devolved into problematic, tense disagreement after her boyfriend requested she don some makeup to meet his friends.

The text exchange left a sour taste in the mouths of many TikTok users who sounded off in the comments to share their disdain for the interaction.

In the 31 second TikTok, Lily shared a series of cringeworthy screenshots that highlighted the follies of her then-boyfriend.

The conversation started out harmless enough with the boyfriend saying, “Hey hey babe. Have you started getting ready for tonight yet?”

To which Lily informed him she hadn’t “done makeup or anything” for the night's outing because she was under the impression it was a casual outing.

The chat quickly devolved and to Lily's dismay her now ex-boyfriend's response was toe curlingly horrendous. What was his response you ask?

A bold statement of, “Yeah babe but do you mind just popping a little bit on as you are meeting my mates and stuff for the first time.”

But the audacity did not stop there.

The man took it a step further by adding, “Don’t want them thinking I’ve pulled a clapped one. First impressions and that.”

The hurtful comments understandably put a damper on Lily's mood, curbing her desire to join her boyfriend for the initial friend group meet and greet. Her response to the texts was "Now I don't want to go because you've made me feel bad about it."

And just as you thought the boyfriend couldn't make the situation any worse, he opened a can of worms that was impossible to close.

His response to Lily voicing her discomfort by the situation was a shocking, "Ugh babe don’t bother then, either put something on your face or don’t turn up because I [can't be arsed].”

Here's to being single in 2022, indeed.

The TikTok has racked up over three million views, nearly 348,000 likes, and almost 10,000 comments.
