TikToker Speaks Out After Roommate Purposely Exposed Them To One Of Their Allergens To 'Assert Dominance'

TikToker Speaks Out After Roommate Purposely Exposed Them To One Of Their Allergens To 'Assert Dominance'

TikToker @thempress.von.infinity made a video recounting a horrific incident that led to a hospital visit due to something a malicious roommate did to them.

In the video, Von, who uses they/them pronouns, said their female roommate claimed to be a doctor and wanted "to help people in a system failing patients."

However, she showed her true colors when she deliberately exposed Von to one of their allergens "because she was mad."

According to Buzzfeed–who spoke to Von about the incident–they are allergic to the chemicals released from alliums, like garlic and onions, when they are being prepared for cooking.

"I don't react to a whole onion sitting in a room," said Von. "But I have a huge reaction as soon as it's chopped up and the chemical is released."

Von met this woman on Facebook Marketplace and thoroughly explained to her about specific kitchen safety and using separate toasters to avoid cross-contamination.

The woman was fully aware of Von's food allergy and had agreed to never bring said allergens into the house.

However, the roommate gradually became more antagonistic and eventually violated their trust by bringing in the food allergens in order to "assert dominance" after the housemates had been in a series of conflicts.

"She would damage things in the kitchen and then become extremely upset or even enraged after being confronted, no matter how small the damage or how gently I approached her," explained Von.

One day, Von discovered the roommate had brought a bag of onions and garlic into the kitchen, and when they asked her to dispose of them, she refused.

The following day, the roommate was found chopping and cooking the garlic and onions, exposing Von to the chemicals harmful to them.

Von recalled:

"She watched me struggling to breathe, and when I said, 'I have to go to the hospital now,' she laughed."

Von immediately left for the hospital and was able to receive medical treatment; however, the physical effects like vomiting remained hours after exposure to the alliums.

The incident got Von thinking about how "people with big fragile egos tend to be very offended by food allergies and will weaponize that sh*t."

Von believes this "recurring theme" of weaponizing those with food allergens is due to narcissistic people viewing their interactions with others as having a dominant person and a subordinate person.

Von said they made the video in an effort to remind those with allergens to take their condition seriously.

They also suggested they should carry a card with them stating their allergies.

"People will take the word of a simple printed card 1,000 times more seriously than the words coming from your mouth."

Von added:

"I had dealt with it so many times, I knew that I couldn't be the only one."
"I thought that talking about my experience might help other victims see that it was never about them, and to reassure them that they're not faking it, they're not doing it for attention, and they don't deserve to have their health weaponized against them, no matter what justification someone uses."

Nancy Sinatra Shuts Down MAGA Fan Who Claimed Her Famous Dad Would've Voted For Trump

It's no secret that MAGA Republican President Donald Trump hasn't been able to attract the cream of the crop when it comes to the entertainment industry. While Kid Rock, Kevin Sorbo and Scott Baio are Trump ride or dies, pretty much every other Hollywood or music legend or rising star is taking a pass on Trump.

And some outright despise the man and let everyone know. Often.
