It's no secret that The Simpsonsis shooting near 100% when it comes to predicting the relatively distant future, but the latest animated foretelling to materialize itself has even the most cynical believing in the power of Matt Groening.
The clip in question made its way around social media after North Carolina State beat out Marquette, and Duke upset no. 1 seed Houston to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight.
Before the Wolfpack and Blue Devils went head to head on Sunday, March 31, a 2015 episode of The Simpsons, which shows "March 31," mind you, went viral...and for very good reason.
The episode shows the Simpsons family reflecting on the month during its last day, with Marge commenting on a “beautiful Easter, a sober St. Patrick’s Day and impeccable behavior watching the NCAA basketball tournament.”
The clip then shows Homer in a Duke shirt holding an NC State flag.
You can see below.
Needless to say, the clip spread like wildfire across the interwebs.
Even North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper was meme-ified.
Of course, others online were amazed—though not necessarily surprised.
NC State eliminated Duke in the tournament, winning 76-64, but Homer wouldn't have known as it was all just a dream anyway (sorry, sports betters).
But this is far from the first time the beloved animated comedy has gone viral for appearing to accurately predict the future.
For your viewing pleasure, we've included some of our favorite predictions below.
Thirty years prior to Sen. Ted Cruz taking his controversial trip to Cancun in Februrary 2021 while people in his state of Texas were suffering from a severe weather crisis, Cruz, err Mayor Quimby, was doing the same.
Then there was Kamala Harris' inauguration attire.
And, well, all the Trump predictions, including January 6.
...the Titan submersible...
... and so many more.
Truly wild.
