Newlyweds Spark Debate After Sending $240 Invoices To Guests Who Didn't Show Up To Wedding

A 44-year old man and his newlywed wife are making headlines and sparking debate after an invoice for no-calls/no-shows to their wedding went viral.

An unrelated party shared the invoice on Twitter, which seemed like ridiculous fiction at first.

But it was soon revealed that the invoice actually belonged to Doug Simmons, 44, and Dedra McGee (now Simmons), 43, of Chicago.

Simmons said it was because the couple paid in advance and the amount of no-call, no-shows to their wedding was upsetting.

"No one told me or texted me, 'Hey, we can't make it,' " Simmons said.

"That's all I was asking. If you tell me you can't make it, I would be understanding — but to tell me nothing, but then let me pay for you and your plus ones? Four people became eight people. I took that personally."

Not everyone agreed with the decision to invoice no-show guests, as it is quite a hefty pricetag for ostensibly skipping an event that the guest already couldn't afford, but plenty of people were on Simmons' side.

"Because you didn't call or give us proper notice that you wouldn't be in attendance, this amount is what you owe us for paying for your seat(s) in advance. You can pay via Zelle or PayPal. Please reach out to us and let us know which method of payment works for you. Thank you!"

The groom soon admitted that the wasn't expecting payment, that he got a "little petty.":

"But I am not some trifling person who is going to bill somebody."

Though in the future, this could easily be a usable tool.

Nancy Sinatra Shuts Down MAGA Fan Who Claimed Her Famous Dad Would've Voted For Trump

It's no secret that MAGA Republican President Donald Trump hasn't been able to attract the cream of the crop when it comes to the entertainment industry. While Kid Rock, Kevin Sorbo and Scott Baio are Trump ride or dies, pretty much every other Hollywood or music legend or rising star is taking a pass on Trump.

And some outright despise the man and let everyone know. Often.
