Homeward bound is more than just a film and the bond between a man and his furry best friend is one that transcends language.

This is especially true for TikToker @sunnyvaletrailerpark who recently posted a video to TikTok recounting the journey he went on to rescue his neighbor's dog.

After searching through three shelters and making numerous phone calls, the TikTok user finally located the abandoned dog at a local, neighborhood shelter.

In the video, viewers can see the moment the man walked up to the dog and a look of recognition crossed its face as @sunnyvaletrailerpark greeted him.

3 shelters and 4 phone calls later. I found the neighborhood dog and adopted him, We gave him the life he deserves #dexterdoakes

The dog immediately walked to the front of his crate and locked eyes with the man who can be heard saying:

"You're coming home with me."

Needless to say, the man's efforts to find the dog had us all in tears.

The video, which has over 7 million views, 1.2 million likes, and nearly 5,000 comments, has understandably gone viral on the social media platform.

In the caption of the video, the TikToker wrote "previous owners left him on the streets. he was picked up by animal control. I adopted him from shelter. sold my house and moved away."

The man alleged the dog's previous owners had left the dog unattended on the streets where it roamed freely until animal control retrieved the dog and took it to an undisclosed animal shelter.

In the video, viewers can see the dog began to wag its tail in the kennel at the shelter as soon as it saw the TikToker coming up to its spot.

The dog otherwise remained calm as the other dogs around him barked in excitement.

@sunnyvaletrailerpark credited the dogs relatively calm dispositions to the fact the dog recognized him.

Upon rescuing him, the dog's savior named him Doakes.

Doakes joined the man and his other dog named, Dexter. The TikToker's account, which has a following of over 100,000 people, regularly posts puppy content of the dynamic duo for viewers to enjoy.

Comments on the TikToker's most viewed video documenting the rescue praised the man for his efforts and for saving the dog.

Many cracked jokes begging the man to do a follow up video letting his followers know what happened when the owners found out he rescued the dog.

But, to the delight of many users, @sunnyvaletrailerpark revealed in the comments section that after adopting Doakes he relocated to a nicer area and Doakes's prior owners were oblivious to the dog's adoption.
