READ: Humans of New York Man Upset About Overweight Girlfriend

New Yorkers pride themselves on being a part of a city that's full of resilient, influential, and brave individuals. The Facebook page "Humans of New York" strives to celebrate Gotham's diverse inhabitants through their stories and photographs.

Unfortunately, not everyone featured is fit for commendation.

A cowardly New Yorker shared his dilemma online, admitting that he can't get past the fact that his girlfriend is overweight.

“At first I told myself I could get past it. I said, ‘Let’s just see how it goes," began this particular New Yorker, whose photo was cropped in a way to shield him from public scrutiny.

"We had excellent dates. Everything else about her was exactly what I wanted. I didn’t want to ruin something good for that one little reason. But it’s been 1.5 years. And I feel horrible, but I just can’t get past it."

"And I feel like a bad person for being bothered by it. I can’t bring myself to tell her. We’re going to couple’s therapy next week, but I still don’t think I’ll be able to say it. Is there any right way to ask."

Efforts to elicit sympathy for this man's predicament didn't go as planned. Reactions were mixed, but mostly unfavorable.

Facebook comments flooded the post, bashing the conflicted boyfriend.

"No. You are the one with the problem, not her," wrote one person on Facebook. "Do her a favour and end it."

"If you're concerned about her health, approach it from that angle," proposed another. But added, "If you're concerned about her appearance, you should probably just stay single."

Another wrote, "Break up with her now. Don't wait. She deserves someone who loves all of her, and you need to be with someone your type. The only shame is in waiting. Do it now."

One commenter put herself in the girlfriend's position, explaining how she would hope her loved one would directly ask her the dreaded question.

"If I was so overweight that it was impacting my health I’d HOPE my spouse would ask me to lose weight. Being overweight is expensive. I see so many people paying for medication they don’t even need if they’d exercise. Not all people can lose it as easy as others, but just blatantly not taking care of yourself, in my opinion, is disrespecting your spouse."

What about her feelings?

Maybe it's time to move along.

Not everyone could offer the correct response. So this user made fun of the guy instead.

Some defended the boyfriend, expressing that he shouldn't be criticized for wanting his girlfriend to look more attractive.

The main consensus leaned towards honesty as the best solution to any relationship problems.

If New Yorkers are known for their straightforwardness, this guy had better step it up. Especially if he loves her as he claims.

After President Donald Trump claimed that his new White House ballroom is "very popular" with the American public, CNN shared a hilariously shady poll that gets to the truth of the matter.

Last year, Trump ordered the demolition of the entire East Wing to make way for a 90,000 square-foot ballroom that will dwarf the size of the White House itself, sparking alarm from historical preservationists and the public alike.

These are jokes, of course, but it's an internet consensus that men spend a really long time on the porcelain throne.
