Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz—who is being investigated by the FBI for both human trafficking and sex with a minor—is probably not the first person to come to mind when people think about who would be speaking at a #FreeBritney rally.

But that was exactly what he was doing on Wednesday.

The Florida Republican spoke to a crowd outside a courthouse in Los Angeles during a hearing about Spears' conservatorship.

During his time with the mic, Gaetz told the crowd:

"Britney's been abused by the media, she's been abused by a grifter father, and she has been abused by the American justice system."
"We need to come together and create ... federal change in the law that will free Britney and the millions of Americans who are impacted by a corrupt guardianship system that empowers people to take advantage of the weak."

Gaetz also called Britney's father, Jamie Spears, "a d*ck."

He shared a clip of his speech on Twitter.

Gaetz has continually put his foot in his mouth in very public ways recently, but it seems he may genuinely support Spears and her effort to end her father's role as her conservator.

Earlier this month, Gaetz and 3 other GOP lawmakers invited Spears to testify before Congress about her conservatorship and share her experience.

People online still seemed very skeptical about Gaetz's true motives though.

While it is impossible to know Gaetz's true motive for his support of Britney Spears, one can only hope it will help rather than hurt her.

The last thing Spears needs is another man in a position of power to exploit her for their own gain.

One early headline, "100 Days Of Hoaxes: Cutting Through The Fake News," was notable but did not include a direct link to a story.

Trump Called Out Using His Own Past Tweet After He Tried To Blame The Economy On Biden

After President Donald Trump declared that former President Joe Biden is to blame for for current stock market performance—saying "this is Biden's stock market, not Trump's" in a rant on Truth Social—people quickly fact-checked him for previously taking credit for the stock market when Biden was in office.

A preliminary estimate shows the U.S. economy contracted by 0.3% in the first quarter of Trump’s second term, a sharp contrast to the 2.4% GDP growth recorded during Joe Biden’s final quarter in office.
