Jamie Lee Curtis Reveals She Has 'Secret Questions' For Celebrities Who Text Her To Test If It's Really Them

Jamie Lee Curtis has had a fairly illustrious film career spanning almost 45 years.

And if her acclaimed performance in this year's Everything Everywhere All At Once and the forthcoming release of Halloween Ends, once more playing the iconic Laurie Strode, are any indication she won't be leaving the big screen any time soon.

Her impressive roster of past co-stars, not to mention being the child of Hollywood royalty Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh and the husband of revered writer/director Christopher Guest, would lead one to assume she has an enviable number of celebrities in her contact list.

But as she recently told Rolling Stone, when she gets a text message from a celebrity out of the blue, she can't always trust it's actually them.

"I get a text from that person out of the blue, I'm very protective."

'"Hey, Jamie, it's so-and-so'."

"I understand there's a lot of bullsh*t out in the world, and a lot of fakery, and people pretending to be people."

With this in mind, the True Lies star shared how she has a fool proof plan to determine whether or not it is the actual film, TV or recording star who is contacting her.

"So, I have secret questions."

"I go to my secret question right away so that, if they answer it, I know it's them."

"And if they don't, I know it's a fishing expedition."

Curtis then shared what she would ask her Freaky Friday co-star as an example.

"If I tell you this, then I'm going to have to come up with another for her."

"But my question, up until today, for Lindsay is, 'What was the song that we were both trying to learn the rap to in the car when we were shooting the car scene?' "

"And that would be the Justin Timberlake song 'Like I Love You'."

"There's a rap in the middle of it by Clipse, and the two of us were sitting in the car starting and stopping the tape player, that's how long ago it was, learning, 'Ma, what you want to do? I'm in front of you/Grab a friend, see I can have fun with two'."

Curtis also shared she has the perfect question for her Knives Out co-star and former 007, Daniel Craig, though she was a bit more vague on the answer to this one.

"If for some reason Daniel texted me, I would say, 'What was the last gift you gave me?'"

"But I'm not going to tell you what it is, because then I would have to change that with him."

"It's something only he would know."

As evidenced by a past appearance on The Late Late Show, Curtis would likely be able to acquit herself quite well should the tables ever be turned and one of her celebrity friends forced a quiz on her.

Curtis was able to correctly answer a question regarding her favorite film, Federico Fellini's 8 1/2, as well as identify the author of the source novel on which Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey was based.

Curtis also had no trouble identifying the unforgettable voice of Gene Kelly singing "Singin' in the Rain."

The only question Curtis was unable to correctly answer was naming Daniel Day-Lewis' character in There Will Be Blood.

Following the release of Halloween in 1978, Curtis openly admitted to Rolling Stone she never imagined she would appear in one sequel to the slasher classic, let alone six.

"I thought it was the end years ago."

"The last thing in the world I thought I would ever do again was a Halloween movie."

"[Then] I was sitting in my house and the phone rang, and it was Jake Gyllenhaal."

"He said, 'Hey, my friend David [Gordon Green] would like to talk to you'.”

"Now, I’ve made three of them in five years."

While Curtis confirmed Halloween Ends will be the final film of the "Halloween Trilogy" as 2018's Halloween acted as a direct sequel to the 1978 original and ignored the previous nine sequels and spinoffs, she was unwilling to confirm this would be her final appearance as Laurie Strode.

"It is the end of this trilogy, for sure."

"And yet this year is my Beatles birthday [64], and I feel more alive than I have ever felt."

"So to assume that in 10 years I won’t feel even more alive would then bring a question of, 'Well, why not?'."

Curtis also shared how humbled she was by the fact her returning at the age of 60 to the role she first played at 20 proved to unexpectedly break barriers.

Halloween Ends will be released on October 14 and will be available to stream on Peacock the same day.
