Trigger warning: domestic violence.

The furry community is a well known fandom and subculture that celebrates anthropomorphic animal characters...by dressing up in furry animal costumes.

And they are making news for the best reason.

At a recent furry convention in California, a man who assaulted his girlfriend was met with a furry smackdown.

A courageous group of furries caught the perpetrator, 22-year-old Demetri Hardnett, holding him down until the police arrived.

Hardnett was promptly arrested on charges of domestic violence.

DJ Robbie Ryan, one of the furries to witness the event, told CNN the details of the incident.

Ryan was taking a smoke break when he saw a blue car approach, pulling up beside the curb.

"We heard a woman's screams coming from inside and saw the passenger throwing full fists at whoever was driving. We got up and ran towards the car, my friend pulled open the door and we both held onto the attacker. The girl driver was yelling for him to get out, as he started trying to fight us off."

While two furries held the abuser down, four more convention attendees joined in, pulling Hardnett out of the car and onto the sidewalk.

Ryan caught the incident on video.

The furry vigilantes received an overwhelmingly positive reaction from Twitter, with many commending the costumed heroes.

Currently, the well-being of the woman involved is unknown. But it goes to show, she definitely has some furry guardian angels on her side.

Stop making fun of furries. They're actually pretty cool.

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy was not buying what White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was selling when she did her best to gaslight him over Attorney General Pam Bondi's claim that the so-called Epstein files do not exist.

Given the fascination surrounding documents related to late financier, pedophile, and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein—rumored to contain the names of Epstein's most high-profile enablers—Bondi's remarks stunned critics and supporters of the Trump administration alike.
