With Halloween fast approaching, there are plenty of spooky things happening to instill fear in the minds of an already jittery public—including ridiculous and harmful theories behind what makes people gay.

A spiritual research association recently concluded that being gay might not be a choice after all.

Instead, they discovered the level of one's queerness had more to do with the fact that gay men are possessed by female ghosts.

According to Pink News, a "totally official study" by the Spiritual Science Research Foundation—which has since been taken down—concluded that 85% of gay people are possessed by some form of ghostly spirit.

The foundation purported:

"The main reason behind the gay orientation of some men is that they are possessed by female ghosts, and the female ghost in them is attracted to other men."

Conversely, the research also maintained the attraction of lesbians was due to "the presence of male ghosts" in women.

The research found the ghost "overpowers the person's normal behaviour to produce the homosexual attraction," whereas the study of the body found it "overpowers the person's normal behaviour to produce the homosexual attraction."

Further, the study claimed queer people were inclined to commit a variety of sins—including being "murderous," saying "bad words" and enjoying being "nude among others."

LGBTQ+ people possessed by these demonic spirits were presumably:

"more susceptible to being influenced by negative energies, which give them thoughts to encourage them to display their homosexuality in a shameless and even aggressive manner."

People quickly dismissed and mocked the study by claiming to be possessed themselves.

The Spiritual Science Research Foundation said their mission is to "educate society on the spiritual dimension and how it affects our lives."

One of their recent studies offered a spiritual perspective on the pandemic, stating:

"The primary catalyst for this virus is due to powerful negative energies in the spiritual dimension."

The organization's website said they were available to anyone with a "curious mind who wants to explore the spiritual dimension," and added:

"At SSRF we are fully aware that the spiritual dimension exists and affects our lives on a daily basis, so rather than spending valuable resources convincing sceptics of its existence, we focus our time and attention on those who have spiritual curiosity and desire for God-realisation."
